We're delighted to present a new exhibition by Christian Newby in the City Dome at Collective. Christian's new commission responds to the building, originally built to house an astronomical telescope, with a large-scale textile - Flower-Necklace-Cargo-Net and an accompanying printed newspaper. The new tapestry combines Christian’s mark-making with industrial carpet tufting to SATELLITES PROGRAMME Satellites Programme. Satellites Programme is the accelerated development programme which sits at the core of Collective. Through it, we aim to prepare the next generation of creative practitioners, supporting them to develop the confidence and critical skills they need to thrive. Satellites Programme is more than an exhibitionopportunity.

We are delighted to be fully open again. Pre-booking is not required to visit Collective, except for our current exhibition in the Hillside space. Stephanie Black-Daniels Stephanie Black-Daniels is best known for her performance and installation work which questions the dynamics between body, object and action. ALISON SCOTT: OPEN-WEATHER Alison Scott is a Glasgow based artist and writer who often works with other artists. Her work is research-led and driven by interests in expanded performance and writing practices, and speculative approaches to knowledge production. In early 2020 she hosted two events at Collective as part of the ongoing project Can We Talk About TheWeather

ALEXANDRA LAUDO HOW TO OBSERVE A NOCTURNAL SKY Collective has been working with Alexandra Laudo since 2017 to develop and produce the project How to Observe a Nocturnal Sky.Over this time, Alexandra has regularly visited Edinburgh to visit libraries and archives collating a vast body of research on the history of observation in Edinburgh and connected works of contemporary art.SPRING EDIT

For Reading the winds, Alison will present a performance lecture creating a new and speculative narrative connecting the historic architecture on Calton Hill and the “world’s first weather station”; the Tower of the Winds in Athens, Greece. Tessa Lynch has collaborated closely with landscape architects Harrison Stevens to develop communal seating areas throughout Collective, where visitors are invited to congregate and reflect.
