GOLF CLUB PLANNED FOR ALABAMA’S LAKE MARTIN Golf Club Planned for Alabama’s Lake Martin. The design team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw will use about 250 acres of the 1,500-acre development in Alexander City, Ala. on a new golf course. With more than 900 members at sister property Willow Point, Russell Lands Vice President Roger Holliday says the COVID pandemic only slowed theinevitable.

CLUB PEOPLE ON THE MOVE Recent industry hires and promotions include new General Managers at Blackstone Country Club in Peoria, Ariz. and Maple Bluff Country Club in Madison, Wis.; new Head Golf Professionals at Bear Trap Dunes in Ocean View, Del. and the Omni Interlocken Resort; a new Director of Athletics at The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a Golf Course Superintendent at Yale Golf Course in New Haven WILDERNESS CC MEMBERS APPROVE NEW $13.6M CLUBHOUSE Plans call for the new facility at the Naples, Fla. property to be built on the site of the current building. The new two-story clubhouse will feature indoor and covered outdoor dining, along with private meeting rooms and a new pro shop, and showcase an Old Florida architectural style, with panoramic views of Wilderness’ Arthur Hills-designed golf course. CLUB PEOPLE ON THE MOVE Recent industry hires and promotions include new General Managers at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nev., Austin (Texas) Country Club, and Oakwood Country Club in Blue Springs, Mo.; an Executive Chef at Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, N.Y.; and a Director of Golf Operations for the Cleveland (Ohio) Metroparks. The industry has also lost a prolific golf course architect, Arthur Hills. LEGAL BATTLES END AS OWASCO CC IS SOLD TO KLESS MYERS GOLF The 120-year-old club in Auburn, N.Y., which includes a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts and a restaurant, could not be sold until a commission was paid to a real estate broker who then released a Lien of Judgment, all stemming from a lawsuit filed when the club was purchased by an Owasco member in 2015.
