HOW DO BACKGROUND CHECKS WORK? This information is securely transferred to Checkr, and allows the background check to proceed. Checkr processes the information, and conducts all required screenings. WHAT DOES THE STATUS OF A REPORT INDICATE? The report is complete, and the candidate has contacted Checkr to contest its accuracy. Adjudication is blocked while a report status is Dispute. The reinvestigation window for disputed reports is a maximum of 30 days. An email will be sent to the compliance contact on your Checkr account once the reinvestigation has been completed. COUNTY CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK The County Criminal Records Check must be run in conjunction with the basic report package. The County Criminal Records Check cannot be run as a standalone Screening. Candidates will be asked to provide Personally Identifiable Information (PII), including their full name, date of birth, social security number, email address, and phonenumber.
WHAT INFORMATION ARE CANDIDATES REQUIRED TO PROVIDE FOR Candidates are required to submit their own personally identifiable information (PII). Checkr’s global screening suite eliminates the hassle of disparate systems. With an offering of 200+ countries, you can manage domestic and international checks in a single AI-powered system built to promote compliance, including data privacy laws. An in-country search leveraging multi HOW DO BACKGROUND CHECKS WORK? This information is securely transferred to Checkr, and allows the background check to proceed. Checkr processes the information, and conducts all required screenings. These usually take around 3-5 business days to process. When the report is complete, Checkr posts it to the Checkr Dashboard. WHAT INFORMATION ARE CANDIDATES REQUIRED TO PROVIDE FOR Candidates are required to submit their own personally identifiable information (PII). This includes: Other screenings (such as motor vehicle reports, employment verifications, or international criminal checks) may require additional information like driver’s license, highest degree earned, or passport number. WHAT DOES THE STATUS OF A REPORT INDICATE? The report is complete, and the candidate has contacted Checkr to contest its accuracy. Adjudication is blocked while a report status is Dispute. The reinvestigation window for disputed reports is a maximum of 30 days. An email will be sent to the compliance contact on your Checkr account once the reinvestigation has been completed. DISCLOSURE AND AUTHORIZATION: GAINING CONSENT TO RUN Proper disclosure and authorization requires: A standalone disclosure (consisting only of the disclosure) informing the candidate that you will be running a background check. Non-standalone disclosures are an extremely common area of legal risk.; State disclosures (if applicable). Some states, like California, require specific disclosures and formatting. WHY IS MY BACKGROUND CHECK STILL PENDING? Updated. Log into our Candidate Portal to track your background check's progress. Some of the more common reasons your background check may still be pending include: Checkr is waiting on information or documentation from you to continue with your report. Fact: Federal, National, and State Checks don't supersede County checks. In other words, they won’t find everything that a county criminal check will. For many criminal records, the county courthouse is the source of truth. COUNTY CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK The County Criminal Records Check must be run in conjunction with the basic report package. The County Criminal Records Check cannot be run as a standalone Screening. Candidates will be asked to provide Personally Identifiable Information (PII), including their full name, date of birth, social security number, email address, and phonenumber.
LOOKBACK PERIODS: HOW FAR BACK ARE CRIMINAL RECORDS It is common for most county criminal courts to provide only 7-10 years of record information.
