2021 CABC - CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS The 2021 Contemporary Artists’ Books Conference (CABC) focused on “The Temperature of Art Book Criticism and Scholarship.” As the scale of participation in and range of approaches to artists’ books and publishing have blossomed in recent years, now is a key time to develop new critical tools for assessing artists’ books and their broader impact on the cultural and artistic practice. Paul Moreno is a queer artist, zine maker, designer, and co-founder and co-organizer of the NY Queer Zine Fair, which brings together queer artists, zine makers, collectives and publishers to share and discuss their art and process. Every exhibitor also has their work for sale, ranging from hand made zines to small-run publications. NYQZF strives to be a place where diverse genders IMIN YEH - CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS Imin Yeh is an interdisciplinary and project-based artist working in sculpture, installation, and participatory events. Her projects use Print Media as a technical tool for realizing the ambition of large-scale work and Print as a conceptual strategy for exploring free, exchange, and craft based economies. ALTERED BOOKS THEN AND NOW: 18TH-CENTURY EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED A Book Talk by Julie Park. Altering books by placing images selected from one’s private collection alongside words written by someone else was a popular pastime in eighteenth-century England. Referred to as “extra-illustration” or “grangerization,” this activity allowed readers and book owners not only to insert new visualdimensions

INTERSPECIES FUTURES Interspecies Futures is the first survey of bookworks by leading international practitioners from the contemporary fields of bio-art and speculative design who have turned to the book as a tool for the proposal of alternative human-nonhuman scenarios. Informed by methods from conceptual art, posthumanism, biotechnology (CRISPR), andINTERNSHIPS

SHIFTING SIGHTS/SITES: RE-IMAGINING THE BODY AND PLACE The audience is invited to participate in a guided sound, movement and reflection exercise by Abang-guard duo Maureen Catbagan and Jevijoe Vitug along with sound artist Sholeh Asgary. The performance will be followed by a lecture focusing on systems of care that re-envision the body as a dynamic, multi-layered site of interconnected trajectoriesand possibilities.
