ACCOMMODATION IN TURKMENISTAN For 80-90$, you can get a double in a 4-star hotel. If you have more money to spend, there are some surprisingly luxurious options in Ashgabat and Avaza. Yyldyz in Ashgabat is a splurge, but worth at least a visit as it has reliable, unrestricted and password-freewi-fi.

OUR TOURS IN TAJIKISTAN Our tours in Tajikistan. Discovering the Pamir range is the main focus of travelers coming to Tajikistan, as it should be. So we offer both jeep tours and trekking tours in the Pamir range and valleys like Wakhan, Bartang and the Murghab plateau. We do, however, also try to broaden travelers' perspective: Tajikistan is bigger than the Pamir. A SHORT LIST OF GOOD BOOKS ABOUT TAJIKISTAN An absolute gem, this is the best book to introduce you to Tajikistan’s turbulent last 100 years. Whitlock builds the narrative around 3 generations of a single family, and explains the history and the culture of Tajiks in the process. IRKESHTAM PASS: OSH-KASHGAR The Irkeshtam pass is the easy border crossing between Kyrgyzstan (Osh – Sary Tash) and China (Kashgar), and really, it’s not that easy (the landscape is spectacular though). The other border crossing from Kyrgyzstan into China is the Torugart pass.Tajikistan’s crossing with China, the Qolma Pass, is another nearby option.. Many people manage to cross between Kashgar and Osh in one long RENT A CAR WITH DRIVER ON THE PAMIR HIGHWAY The car + driver option is a pared down version of a regular Pamir Highway Jeep Tour, which includes an English-speaking guide and all meals and accommodation. Final option: Pamir Highway scheduled group tour: fixed itinerary, accommodation included, but no English-speaking guide. Drivers and quality of cars. Generally speaking, it pays tobook
TREKKING AROUND KARAKOL Scenery The lush Altyn Arashan valley. It is beautiful. If you haven’t done a lot of trekking, you will love this. If, on the other hand, you have done a lot of trekking, you might find the scenery is the classic alpine beauty you have probably already experienced in many other areas of the world, with the exception of the more extreme 10-day hike to Inylchek glacier.CASPIAN SEA FERRY
Open Mo-Fr 9-18, you can call +7 777 490 46 63 or +7 (729) 250 03 46, info@ferry.kz. The ferry ticket office in Aqtau’s microrayon 5. Kuryk port. Kuryk (+994 50 746 29 62) is a new port in full development, located 30 km west from the village of Kuryk ( Gmaps ). SELF-DRIVE IN CHINA FOR TRAVELERS Self-driving in China as a traveler is difficult. But it’s getting easier. Before you could only do it if you had a Chinese driver’s license, but these days you can get HOW TO TRAVEL BETWEEN BISHKEK AND OSH Shared taxi. There are no buses or regular minibuses between Bishkek and Osh. The Bishkek-Osh highway is a narrow mountainous road (though in a good condition) and big buses and public passenger minivans are not allowed to cross the Tor-Ashu and Ala-Bel passes. This means shared taxis are the preferred way of getting there overland. CORONAVIRUS BORDER CLOSURES & RE-OPENINGS Coronavirus border closures & re-openings. Mongolia has closed its border with China "to cars and pedestrians" due to the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. It seems that flights continue (for now).
