VIY & A HOLY PLACE
The po-faced gloominess doesn’t stand up against Viy either, but, taken on its own terms, A Holy Place remains a quietly creepy and erotically-charged horror film. Film: Viy is out on 15th March on Limited Edition Blu-Ray in the UK, released by Eureka as part WORLD OF WONG KAR WAI As such, although the film is a visual and aural treat, it feels overlong and meandering in comparison to its perfectly formed predecessor. World of Wong Kar Wai is out on Blu-ray on 31st May in the UK, released by The Criterion Collection. The films all look andsound fantastic.

Dawn of the Dead, sensibly, sees Romero take a very different approach to the zombie movie than its predecessor. Though again seeing a group of people holed up in a bid to survive the onslaught outside, the tone and scope is very different. For one, despite the gore being amped up to 11, Dawn feels like less of a horror movie than Night. HOST - SECOND SIGHT - BLUEPRINT: REVIEW This release is the complete package that provides a fully effective horror film and at the same time reveals how much joy and effort goes into making one. One Armed Boxer is out on 24th May on Blu-Ray in the UK, released by Eureka as part of their Eureka Classics series. The very first scene has some minor colour inconsistencies, but this is likely as shot and, after this, the image is excellent. It’s detailed, pretty sharp andhas strong colours.

I’m a big fan of Ang Lee. On top of the modern classics he’s directed like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain, I also like the Oscar winning Life of Pi a lot and I’m even a supporter of his underrated comic book movie, Hulk.In particular, I’ve always been impressed by how diverse his output is.LE CERCLE ROUGE
