This equipment is used for recreational purposes (CB and radio amateur) or for radio communications without particular attention to security (CB and PMR-446). CB and PMR-446 devices complying with the interfaces are exempt from licensing. Radioamateur equipment requires a licence as well as an operator’scertificate.

It has demonstrated, more than ever, the importance of effective and reliable postal and communication networks. Belgium missed two European deadlines for the 5G roll-out in 2020: 30 June 2020, the date set for allowing the use of 5G in the 700 MHz band and 30 December 2020, the deadline for 3400-3800 MHz and at least 1 GHz in the 26 GHz band (provided there is sufficient demand from the market, which is not the case in Belgium today).| BIPT
In December 2020, Proximus activated 5G in the spectrum for which temporary user rights had been obtained at a number of sites.
