Billabong Sanctuary is one of the few places in the world where you can hold a koala! (Extra fee involved for this special privilege) We’ll take a souvenir photo as a treasured keepsake of your dream-come-true moment, printed on the spot and mounted in a colourfulfolder.
BILLABONG SANCTUARY
Billabong Sanctuary has a healthy, growing population of Koalas, including several born and raised right here in the park. There is usually a young joey to charm visitors with its shoe-button eyes, soft fur and slow-motion antics. A highlight of your visit will surely be that long-anticipated moment when you finally have a chance to cuddlea Koala.

The Black-headed Python is a robust snake, growing up to 3 metres (10 feet) in length. The glossy black colour of the head, neck and throat is the most obvious identifying feature. There is no distinct narrowing of the neck region as in most other pythons. This snake also lacks heat-sensitive pits along the lips.BILLABONG SANCTUARY

Surely one of the most intriguing is the Emu. Here is a bird that towers over you and can out-run you, yet can’t get off the ground. Loping across the countryside with a body looking more like an overgrown sheepdog, perched on top of massive reptilian legs, an emu is certainly an amazing sight.BILLABONG SANCTUARY
Bob and Del built Billabong Sanctuary literally from the ground up, starting from a bare paddock and developing the park into an award-winning Eco-tourism attraction .Through the years they’ve both remained actively involved in all aspects of the operation of their family-owned business, from frying chips to feedingcrocs.

An adult male stands over 1.8 m tall (5 ft 10 in) and can weigh up to 90 kg (198 lb). He can tower over a tall person! Total length of the head and body averages about 1150 mm (3.8 ft) with an average tail length of about 880 mm (2.9 ft.) Females are much smaller, with an average weight of about 26.5 kg (58 lb).BILLABONG SANCTUARY
Total length of the head and body averages well over 2 m (6 ½ ft) with nearly half of this being the length of the tail. Females are smaller, reaching a maximum weight of about 32 kg (70 lb). The Western Grey (Macropus fuliginosus) is the third Kangaroo species. It hasbrown fur, and is

Rangers estimate his age at around 60 years. Apart from his left eye, he’s also missing most of his teeth, is a bit underweight and has a few battle scars! We reckon he was driven out of his territory by a younger, more aggressive male. But here at Billabong Sanctuary, Jupiter can live out his days well-fed and free from harassment.BILLABONG SANCTUARY
The Eastern Brown shelters in hollow logs, rock crevices, unused animal burrows, and under rubbish around buildings. It is an agile, fast-moving snake, hunting by day and returning to its burrow at night. During winter time, it remains in its burrow for up to 4 ½ months. Adult males are always solitary.BILLABONG SANCTUARY
The iris is very dark brown. Scales on the belly are creamy to light yellow with a darker hind edge. Average length for adults is about 2 metres (6.5 ft) with a maximum of about 2.7 m ( 8.8 ft). Although the maximum size is smaller than that of the Coastal Taipan, this is a large, formidable snake.BILLABONG SANCTUARY
These are chunky birds, with big heads and long rounded tails. Tawny frogmouths have greyish feathers, lighter below, streaked with darker grey and some reddish tints. Their large eyes have a yellow iris, and the inside of the wide, heavy beak is yellow. Both males and females can reach 53 cm in length, and weigh up to 680 grams.BILLABONG SANCTUARY
Australia’s less well-know crocodile is the Freshwater Crocodile, also called Johnston’s Crocodile, Fish Crocodile or simply ‘Freshie’. This species is unique to Australia, occurring only in the tropics of Queensland, the Northern Territory and WesternAustralia.
