Founded in 1992 and based in Silicon Valley, Alto Velo supports and encourages bike racing across all categories and is the home of the LuxVue-SunPower Racing Team. This club is a member of USA Cycling, the national governing body for bicycle racing in the United States.BICYCLE EXCHANGE
The Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange is a fully volunteer-run organization that provides refurbished bikes to the underprivileged. After several years of partnership and growing together, the Bicycle Exchange has incorporated and become an independent nonprofit organization. NEW BIKE PROJECTS FUNDED BY MTC'S SAFE AND SEAMLESS This blog post was written by SVBC intern, Emily Olson Happy almost-summer! MTC has recently announced the projects to be funded with the Safe and Seamless Mobility Quick-Strike program. As a refresher on this program, SVBC and other Bay Area bike advocacy groups had proposed this grant to MTC in order to support a movement CARRYING THINGS BY BIKE Medium Loads (two grocery bags or less) A medium sized load (two grocery bags worth) is better carried on your the bike and not your body. Panniers: These are saddle bags for your bike and can be attached to a front or rear rack on each side of your bike’s front or rear wheel.This puts the cargo low to the ground and centered, which keeps the bike very stable even when carrying lots of weight.
