VISIT OF THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY The Bayeux Tapestry, one of the 3 museums of Bayeux Museum, is a must-see in Normandy and tells the story of the conquest of England by William the Conqueror in 1066. It is listed in the UNESCO Memory ofthe World register.

The project consists of a scientific, architectural, museographical and digital components. The Bayeux Tapestry could, under certain conditions, be loaned to the UK around 2023-2024 during building work. MILITARY CEMETERIES IN NORMANDY In all, 80,000 German soldiers are buried in Normandy. Slightly inland from Isigny sur Mer, La Cambe is the largest and most visited of the German military cemeteries. USEFUL INFORMATION TO VISIT THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY MUSEUM The Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry is open to the public 7/7 days from February 1st to December 31st. Please buy your tickets at the museums, no tickets online or in advance. The last admission is 45 minutes before the closing time of the museum. An audioguide included in the entry fee (16 languages proposed) will be given to you to discover the VISITORS INFORMATION BAYEUX TAPESTRY VISITORS INFORMATION for the Bayeux Tapestry Museum. The Tapestry tells the story of the events surrounding the conquest of England by the Duke of Normandy. THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY, AN NEVER-ENDING SOURCE OF INSPIRATION Famous throughout the world, the Bayeux Tapestry is constantly parodied, copied or re-invented. It has been copied in identical embroidery for many years, reproduced in LEGO®, in the form of thousands of pieces of metal or wood, recently in sand, and it has also been animated (watch The animated Bayeux Tapestry), with its characters and animals brought to life, thanks to new technologies. THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY'S MAIN CHARACTERS, WILLIAM, EDWARD Main characters of the Bayeux Tapestry, Guillaume, Edouard, Harold and Odon are represented several times among 626 individuals. 37 buildings, including Mont-Saint-Michel, 41 ships and 202 horses and mules are also included in this epic fresco. THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY IS AN EMBROIDERY The Bayeux Tapestry is a narrative embroidery of about 70 meters long and 50 centimeters wide. It consists of nine linen panels on which are illustrated the details of the epic of William the Conqueror with only ten colors of woolen threads.
