The disease, caused by the Yersinia pestis bacteria, began in Mongolia and spread quickly to China. It spread to Europe following a battle between the Mongolians and the Genovese army on the Crimean Peninsula. He was born in 1550 in Morocco. Like many Jews in the crowded Jewish quarter of Fez, his ancestors were descendants of the deportees from Spain. The Kadushin collection is a rare collection of some 2,000 photo negatives, taken by Zvi Kadushin in the Kovno Ghetto from 1942 – 1944, as well as approximately 1,000 photographs from the Displaced Persons Camp at Landsberg, Germany 1945-46.
