Comparing Oscars best dressed lists? Marjorie Merriweather Post knew a thing about dressing to impress. She wore this Oldric Royce evening gown, on view in Post’s closet, to a formal ball at the Everglades Club in Palm Beach around 1964. The off-the-shoulder silhouette accommodated her spectacular collection of jewelry, and she so enjoyed the dress that she ordered it in both green and grey. Post often dressed in vivid jewel tones, and the pale green color of this gown highlighted her affinity for jade and nephrite.
