HIGHWAYS ENGLAND
We operate, maintain and improve England’s motorways and majorA-roads.
M3 JUNCTION 9 IMPROVEMENTS M3 junction 9 improvements. We’re proposing to change junction 9, so it has free-flowing links between the M3 and the A34 both northbound and southbound. Start date 2023-24. End date Road Period 3 (2025-2030) Cost £110 - £130 million. M3 junction 9 drone shot. LOWER THAMES CROSSING 07 April 2021. The Tunnels and Approaches contract includes design and construction of twin road tunnels under the River Thames. Partners sought to build £1.9 billion Lower Thames Crossing roads. 31 March 2021. A19 TESTO’S JUNCTION Testo’s roundabout is a major junction connecting the A19 with the A184 in South Tyneside. We will raise the A19 on a flyover and build new slip roads to connect it to the A184 via the Testo’s roundabout so through traffic on the A19 can free flow. A428 BLACK CAT TO CAXTON GIBBET IMPROVEMENTS The A428 between St Neots and Caxton Gibbet is the only stretch of single carriageway between the M1 near Milton Keynes and Cambridge. It is an important link between the M1 and the M11, connecting the communities of Bedford, St Neots, Cambridge and Cambourne. Around 22,000 vehicles travel between Cambridge Road and Caxton Gibbet everyday.
