To wire a 220 outlet, a new 220 (double pole) breaker is installed in your box. From this both the black and the white wires will be hot when checked or wired to ground. You are wiring from both sides of the 110 in your box. Going from either line to ground is 110. Going from one side to the other is 220. FLIPPING DECK BOARDS What I might consider first is to set the fasteners a little deeper and sand it down with a 40 grit followed by an 80 grit, then 100. By installing a 12' header in place of a 3' header, the studs supporting the longer header will be supporting much higher concentrated loads (although the total load will be the same). Plastic shapes have a memory and, when heated, will try to return to their original shape. I've straightened many deformed plastic items (including car bumpers) by heating them with a heat gun. WHEN IS IT OK TO USE 3/8" DRYWALL? WI, USA. 3/8" is garbage. Don't use it. But, for older home wall small repairs, it only makes sense to use it rather than tear down the whole wall. That said, it is flimsy - I have a lot of that crap in my home, and I tear it out and replace it with 1/2" whenever I can when doing major work on a wall. About 2/3 of my home is now 1/2" on the walls. GFCI FOR ALUMINUM WIRING? The guidance was: 1. A GFCI specifically for aluminum wiring is not available. 2. There is a specfic twist nut that is used for connecting copper wiring to aluminum. 3. It would be necessary with the installation of a GFCI to have copper pigtails from the GFCI going to the alum wires, connected by the special twist nuts.Appliances

Complete Article Index ------------------------- HOLES UP OR HOLES DOWN How do you place that drainage pipe? Typical PVC rigid pipe with holes comes with a pair of rows of holes down its length. If you are running this pipe say, along your foundation's footer, or through a wet area to drain the water away, how do you place the pipe? Well, it would appear that common sense says holes pointing up. You wouldn't want the water to drain out again would you? Well, this is one that is counter-intuitive I guess, because the holes go DOWN. Consider the saturated condition of the soil or sand or stones around the pipe.. in order for the water to get into the pipe, the water level has to reach the height of the holes. You aren't really trying to catch the small percentage of the water that might luck out and drop right into a hole.. what you are doing is draining away the water as the level rises to the height of the holes in the dirt or ditch or where ever you have placed the pipe. So, holes go down, then basically the water level in the area around the pipe will be at the bottom of the pipe instead of at the top.NEW SITE
