UNDERSTANDING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF GRAPHENE Biodegradation. Biodegradation is the naturally occurring decomposition of materials by microorganisms, enzymes or other biological activity. It is important for materials to biodegrade to be considered safe, as the build-up of foreign materials can lead to ecological damage and health problems. GRAPHENE ACID HELPS REMOVE HEAVY METAL POLLUTANTS FROM The researchers showed that this graphene acid-based sorbent not only can remove heavy metals from contaminated waters, but can also serve to extract noble metals, such as palladium, gallium or indium.
