ICE AGE | COLUMBIA GORGE DISCOVERY CENTER The Link to the Columbia Gorge. Ice Age, a permanent exhibit, features a life-size 13-foot Columbian mammoth and interpretation of the role that the Ice Age played in populating the Americas. The exhibit explains why everything reached mammoth proportions during the Ice Age, how and why people migrated during this forbidding time, and whyIce
COLUMBIA GORGE CULTURAL & NATURAL HISTORY The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area stretches 85 miles on both sides of one of the largest waterways on the continent. Protected by the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Act signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on November 17, 1986, the Gorge became the first landscape to become specifically designated as a National ScenicArea by Congress.

The 50+ acres surrounding the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and the banks of the Columbia River provide a supportive habitat for area wildlife and flora. Explore photographs, Native American artifacts, and tools and household furnishings of the region. The Center is interested in expanding its collections and welcomes inquiries from potential donors.
