BOILED POTATOES TURN BLACK If your potatoes turn black after they are boiled, you may be using an aluminum or reactive pot, so it's important to use a pot that's non-reactive. While cooling, iron in the potato combines with other natural compounds, causing a grey, black, or bluish purple color. WHERE ARE MY ORIOLES? 2 & 3 yrs ago only had 1 male come to nectar feeder for a couple weeks. last year had both male and female come to grape jelly and nectar feeder for a couple weeks also. this year we set out 3 feeding stations with nectar feeder, grape jelly and a bowl of diluted grape jelly. had multiple males and females coming to all 3 feeders. the males likes solid grape jelly the females likes the QUESTION: ABOUT ODD BEHAVIOR OF NESTING ROBINS. QUESTION: About odd behavior of nesting Robins. Robins_Egg_Blue May 18, 2014. I observed a pair of American Robins displaying an interesting behavior. The female was sitting on her nest, and the male was next to the nest. Both birds had their mouths open, and their feathers fluffed. The male was breathing heavily. They made no sounds. FAVORITE MAYO OR HOME MADE? My favorite Mexican food is from the Yucatan. Here is my favorite recipe; the achiote paste is what gives it the Yucatecan flavor and there is no substitute for that: Yucatecan Style Chicken Enchiladas Ingredients: 1 pound cooked (preferably poached) chicken or turkey meat, chopped 2 tbsp chicken fat (or combination of chicken fat, butter, olive oil) 1/4 cup flour 1/2 onion, finely chopped 2-3 WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE EGGS? What a cool find. There must be some Flat-topped Aster somewhere near you because these butterflies only exist near their host plants. These caterpillars will overwinter, which can be tricky because there is a high risk of them drying out. WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH MELON RIND? Last year's cantaloupe produced tons of melons, it was a hybrid. This year I only got one melon and it was from a volunteer from last year's. The plant produced a lot less and the melon was a slightly different shape and a little larger. WE NEED A BETTER LAYOUT My significant other and I just recently bought a really old home. Most of its original. We are really wanting to update the kitchen without spending too much. The layout right now doesn’t really work to fill the kitchen. We don’t have a lot of counter space. The window goes really low so we wouldn’ TRI-TIP VERSUS FLANK STEAK Tri-tip versus Flank Steak. stir_fryi SE Mich August 29, 2016. I am making fajitas on the grill. I tried pounding it, although I didn't seem to make a BUSH BEAUTY OR FAST REPEAT IN PARTIAL SHADE? Last year I tossed 2 veronica plants because a few coneflowers had aster yellows disease and I thought 2 of my speedwell might of had because a couple of flower buds that had bloomed had a split in them right at the tip making 2 points. I just picked up 2 more and didn't notice until I got home that I WANT ONE OF THESE DECORATIVE COLORGUIDE BOXES She does live in her own lovely bubble The box made me think of Magnaverde and how much he would have enjoyed it Starts at 2:00 BREAKFAST TRIFLE AND I have house guests for the long weekend and on Saturday I am serving a Trifle made from mixed berries and a cakelike mixcuit molded into a cup shape. I also plan to serve Mimosas but what else would you serve with this? I'm doing two different stratas on Sunday and Monday that Iplan to serve with
PLEASE ID THIS TOMATO STEM PROBLEM I would appreciate any help identifying this tomato stem problem. I call it a problem because I don't know if this is the result of a disease or a pest.
