WHY ARE MOST STARS WHITE? The reason for this change of color lies not in the objects but our eyes. Colors fade to shades of white because our eyes contain two different visual systems - color sensitive system (cone shaped cells) and a monochrome system (rod shaped cells). ABOUT US - FROSTY DREW OBSERVATORY AND SCIENCE CENTER The Frosty Drew Nature Center was the first building to open in the new park, on July 3, 1983. Since 1983, we have made many improvements to the Nature Center and its grounds. Then, in 1988, we added the Observatory, where many have developed a lifelong interest in astronomy. In 2010, we added the John G. Drew Sky Theatre to give morepeople

Welcome to the Frosty Drew Observatory Summer Stargazing Nights! Tonight we will open the Observatory, Science Center, and Sky Theatre at 8:30 offering fabulous astronomy experiences. WHY ARE MOST STARS WHITE? The reason for this change of color lies not in the objects but our eyes. Colors fade to shades of white because our eyes contain two different visual systems - color sensitive system (cone shaped cells) and a monochrome system (rod shaped cells). The cones contain three pigments which are most sensitive to red, green and blue light.
