WÖR - BACK TO THE 1780'S (2015 BELGIUM) @320 Almost 300 years ago, some musicians from around Antwerp, Brussels, Gent and Leuven decided to write down their favourite music. As time passed, however, the paper turned yellow, the ink began to fade, and the music itself was left to gather dust along with the fadedmanuscripts …
That is, until now! With their finely textured arrangements WÖR injects new energy into 18th-century tunes from the Flanders region of Belgium. Their music shines an inventive spotlight, with a modern twist, on tunes from these manuscripts. They released 2 albums ('Back to the 1780's' (2015) and Sssht (2017) and toured both in Europe and America.Tracklist:

MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2019 THE MORRIGAN - WRECKERS (ENGLAND 1995) @320 A genial offering if somewhat out of time. The Morrigan are an old fashioned folk rock band -no excuses- they sound quite happy to be one. Consequently this could so easily have come from the fag end days of the Electric Muse's first flush. They have markedly similar intentions to those of later Sprigguns, and a sound made all the more amusing by bursts of pure proggery and acoustic interlude. Chiefly "trad arr." the material comes slick and substantial - loads of guitars, synths, electric percussion. Even their originals fit snugly with the overall formula though fave nips from the folk quarter are a claustrophobic but highly effective Yarrow, with so much caged in energy, and a stately Agincourt Carol, heavy on the deep booming beat. Then to top it all off splendidly, The booklet has them all posing windswept on the local moor. Predictable but perfectly fitting. OK, Wreckers is not cutting edge in the slightest, but it's a hoot of a way to spend an hour or so and it'll put a ruddy big smile on your mug. _Simon Jones, Folk Roots magazine, Great Britain_ 01 - The Miller's Dance02 - Yarrow

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2019 TELENN GWAD - VREMYA, KOGDA ANGELY UCHILI POETOV LUBIT (TIME WHEN POETS TAUGHT ANGELS TO LOVE ) @320 If we knew, how elf’s music sounds, the world around of us would be absolutely different - simply because we would be different. There are the musicians who are able to hear this music. Full of air flying sounds of a flute, slow guitar fingering, a silent baritone of violoncello and contrabass, Oleg Bojko's sad and “out-of-body” voice – this is Telenn Gwad band. You close eyes - and the habitual world is dissolved, remains only darkness, noise of surf - or it is a wind has entangled in branches of a yew-tree? They do not compose music - it comes to them, it is only necessary to be disposed, open to it, and fingers run on strings, and indefinitely beautiful melody will be born, invented by unknown Kelt bard many centuries ago, - or may be by elf?.. Guitarist Oleg Boyko is from Murmansk, flutist Pavel Markelov wasborn in Magadan.
Boundless open spaces, miser beauty of the North, the wild, protogenic nature – probably it is a secret of Russian and Kelt souls similarity? Both musicians have graduated from Gnesinski Music Academy and now live in Moscow. In 1995 when two men and two instruments met for the first time, it turned out, that they’ve got the same vision of music. So has Telenn Gwad appeared. The Breton tradition finds new breath in the modern European symphonic form - Telenn Gwad is sometimes compared to Alan Stivell, the French harpist who has given the name to the group in absentia (in Gallic language “Telenn Gwad” means “Blood of a harp” or, more poetically, " Requital to angels "). 01 - Mountains Of Rain And Sun02 - My Own Country

TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2019 KV EXPRESS - ZAFON (BELGIUM 2016) @320 The repertoire of KV Express is entirely made up of personal compositions of Sophie Cavez which creates a universe at the same time powerful, festive and sensitive. The pieces are inspired by the traditional music of here and elsewhere and the poetic writing of the author Carlos Ruiz Zafòn. The different instruments intermingle in arrangements that make both the feet and the ears dance. The musicians invited on this new record are all very active in different areas and styles of music. The richness of their experience and influences is found in the repertoire and adds a unique sound. The diatonic accordion game and Sophie's compositions are quite innovative in the world of folk music. A modern sound that recolorestraditional music.
After 2 cd's ("Luna" and "D-Sensation"), KV Express presents its third opus "Zafon" which will be performed on stage with Bo Waterschoot on bass and Jo Zanders on percussion.01. Zoé

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2019 AMAZING BLONDEL - FANTASIA LINDUM (ENGLAND 1971) @320 Fantasia Lindum was an album released by the band Amazing Blondel in 1971. It featured the style of music which they described as "pseudo-Elizabethan/Classical acoustic music sung with British accents". LE BAL DE L'ÉPHÉMÈRE - AZURÉ (2015 FRANCE) @320from official site:
The "Bal de l'éphémère" was born from the common desire to propose a repertory to dance "trad" on original compositions and texts. We Dance Mazurka, circles, Scottish, Chapelloises, waltzes... But we can also discover the "dance of the Ephemeral" on stage in concertversion.
Is that Trad? what about neo-trad? of the French song?, music of the world? This is all a little bit, with the influences of each one and the particular care taken for the composition, the musical arrangements and the writing of the texts. A first self-produced CD "Azuré" was released in 2015, the second"Hylé" in 2018.
(google-translate from french, sorry)Tracklist:
Eva (valse)

FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 2019 LORS LANDAT & THOMAS MOISSON - AN TAN SKORNET (2013 FRANCE /BRETAGNE) @320
On the face of it, this is a duo album of Breton singer Lors Landat and accordionist Thomas Moisson.. However, the album has very much a band sound – this is partly due to the full sound that Thomas creates with his accordion, but also as a result of the guest musicians on flute, guitars and double bass. This is a wonderful album of traditional Breton folk singing (in Breton language), with a powerful voice and great music. Other than one small exception (the very last number, provided as a bonus track, where the singing is backed by a strange soundscape instead of music), I like this album alot.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 2019 NOVAR - EMERALD (2016 FRANCE / BELGIUM) @320NOVAR, it’s new.
Bits of trad, bits of electro. The brightness of the hurdy gurdy of Thierry Nouat and the darkness of Toon van Mierlo’s bagpipes. Massively supported by Jeroen Geerinck's keyboard and the accordion of Aurélien Claranbaux that hits you like a punch in the dark. A band of musicians renowned for their absolutely “neo” sound. NOVAR, a universe that arises from the depths of the earth.Tracklist:
