Middle Ridge is a small Fossicking Area (32ha) located between the Designated Fossicking Lands of Divide and Rubyvale on the central Queensland gemfields. Sapphire and zircon gems can be found in the mostly shallow wash of this area. Camping is allowed but regulated to a maximum period of three months. AUSTRALIAN FACETORS GUILD LIMITED Forum Rules. Nanosital's specific gravity index is very close to that of the most valuable gemstones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and aquamarine.. 2. Nanosital and the optical properties of the most popular color gemstones are almost similar. Nanosital's main feature is its lack of an unnaturally strong lustre, which is typical of cubic zirconia, wherein the play of AUSTRALIAN FACETORS GUILD LIMITED The L&F lap is even a bit thicker at 6mm. BATT laps which are a tin alloy are harder than pure tin. The older faceting books will suggest tin or tin/lead as a polishing lap, but BATT laps are easily better. This competition is run by a different branch of the Guild each year and is a level 3 competition conducted in three divisions: Novice Intermediate and Open. The Pharaoh's Eye is a novel design credited to "Gems of the world" as Sapphire faceting guide number 37. Fred Van Sant tweaked the original design. He does say he has never cut the original design. He explains girdle facets goes inward and comes back out again. Thus making it a almost impossible stone to cut.
