_Camille grimaced, squeezing the grip of his swordcane so tightly his leather gloves squeaked. “Manon - people sometimes have demons they do not reveal to anyone, not even those they love most…" He thought back to his own adolescence, to an evening when a dark cloud had descended over him and he had stared at a flintlock pistol through the window of an antique shop the same way he once had a toy. He had given the shopkeeper a false name when asked, and that night had paid for a room in a boarding house, sitting on the end of the bed in the swallowing dark and willing himself to pull the trigger. Instead he had fallen apart, just as he had when duelling De la Fosse, unable to even bring the muzzle to his head without descending into violent shakes. Even then he had thought it ironic that the very act that had caused his guilt and misery was preventing him from ending it. He had tossed the pistol off the Pont d'Arcole the next morning, inventing a story about some pretty Provençale seamstress when Marianne had asked where he'd been all night._-

_Arriving at La Grand Roquette Camille had found himself confronted by the harrowing presence of the guillotine, a sentinel standing less than twenty paces ahead of him through the courtyard gates. He had stopped going quietly then, stopped going calmly, politely. He had tried to look at it, tried to keep his head high, to face it undaunted like he knew his father would have - but Camille was scared to die, and part of him had been struck senseless with terror, fearing they would take him straight to the scaffold without a trial, that he would lose his head then and there without preamble. Like a coward he had turned his face away from the great machine, leveller of kings and peasants alike, and started to cry like a child. His heart had only steadied itself when he was taken into one of the buildings, away from the sight of the guillotine. _-

I wanted to do a CaL animatic but i basically did a recap of CaGenjoloras
Oh dear god this HURTS SO MUCH oh my GOD??? My poor babies??? This is absolutely gorgeous oh my gosh. That it serves as both, like, a recap of CaG and shows the impact of everything on Camille and Marianne??? 0h my god. My heart aches. And as usual your art is absolutely stunning, don’t think I can even pick out any favourite frames??? I LOVE the transition at the start from seeing Enjolras all stern and revolutionary to - softer, happier, his hair is loose and he almost looks younger?? Absolutely stunning. This whole thing is crushing.(Also FUCK EUGENE)

Okay, if Marianne has a child what would they be like? Ohhhh boy, that’s a loaded question! Because Marianne would never actively decide to have a child - and I think if she ever found herself expecting she’d have had an abortion or given the child up to a convent or something. (Interesting fact! In my very very first notes for Marianne as a character, she ‘reportedly never had children’ but ‘notably disappeared from Paris for the best part of a year’ - ie; she had a child butgave it up)
The sad irony is that Marianne thinks she’d be a terrible mother, but she’d actually probably be pretty good. She’s a deeply nurturing, caring person, even if she denies it. If she was able to get her issues under wraps she’d be an excellent parent. I imagine any child of hers would be fiercely opinionated, creative, and outgoing, much like she is. She strikes me as someone who would raise her child with a lot of freedom - perhaps too much, in that she wouldn’t teach responsibility well. She’d be mother to another artist, actor, writer or musician - definitely something of thatsort.

_“Could you please state your name to the court?”_ _“Monsieur de Cardon.”_ _“And what is your relationship to the accused?” Aubert asked._ _Cardon hesitated. “Unfortunately I was one of Baronne Auclair’smany lovers.”_
_“You weren’t my lover!” Marianne cried, standing. “You were a patron of the arts!”_ _Fabien seized her by the sleeve and forced her back into her seat. “Sit down! Are you trying to get yourself into further trouble?”_ _Aubert raised one eyebrow at the outburst, turning his attention backto Cardon._
_“Lover?” he said. “Can you elaborate on that at all,Monsieur?”_
_Cardon hesitated again, visibly ruffled by Marianne’s words. “I was one of her clients,” he admitted. “That woman could bewitch anyone - she is an unnatural creature.”_ _“Unnatural?” Aubert pressed. “In what way is the accused ‘unnatural’?”_ _“She is full of ideas above her biological station as a woman,” Cardon said bitterly. “I enjoy a girl who can make a little conversation about politics, yes - it is quite charming, to a degree. But Baronne Auclair went far beyond that, trying to meddle in the affairs of men. She was quick to pass judgement on the government, and spoke of the emperor in an unkind fashion. She drinks like a sailor, smokes opiates, reads salacious material, and has a voracious…appetite.”_ _“She sounds like a good time to me!” A man at the back piped up, to the amusement of the spectators. Marianne laughed too, leaping to her feet again before Fabien could stop her._ _“You flatter yourself too much!” She said, spinning around to face the gallery. “The good Monsieur de Cardon could not rise to the occasion, and lavished gifts upon me to keep me by his side, in the hopes others would think him a virile man!”_ _Cardon flushed bright red, spluttering. “You ungrateful harlot! I kept a cabriolet for you!”__-_

I’m genuinely curious if we will see a second episode of The Downtrodden. I very much enjoyed the first and was excited when you said it would get more episodes, however, since then you haven’t spoken about it at all. I know during this time it’s not the biggest priority, but I was wondering if it was in the works or not. Thanks inadvance!
I have actually spoken about it! We had plans with the production company to get the rest out this year (I can’t mention any specific dates etc) but unfortunately it’s currently on hiatus due to the pandemic! I am, however, working on getting some content out to tide people over until things die down and we can get to filming!Anonymous

I’m fucking HOWLING - we do this thing where every time we have a bottle of prosecco for a special occasion, we write the reason for it on the cork and put the cork in a memory box. We have stuff like ‘Birthday 2018′, ‘Wedding’, ‘New Year 2019′ ‘Paris 2019′ etc. We now have ‘Quarantine 2020′. One day that’s gonna make a real interesting discovery for futurehistorians.

Since we’re in isolation due to symptoms I paid a friend of ours to get us food from somewhere, and also to make a detour to _the back of my mother’s house_ to pick up something my mother has covertly left there for me, and I feel like I’m sending her on the _weirdest_ video game quests. The end really is nigh.94 notes

How did you start learning to sew? I’m a total newb but I’d love to make my own clothing Aha, admittedly, I started because I fucking hated my photography course in college and switched to fashion because I found the cool outfits we were borrowing for shoots more interesting than the actual photography (though it means I have picked up some cool weird Personality Quirks, like being able to develop film in a darkroom etc lmao) - and because I always loved historical fashion. And basically my course taught me from scratch, how to draw and cut patterns, drape, sew, embroider, use an overlocker, even how to make lace. I was very lucky to have the opportunity. HOWEVER it’s been a good uhhhh 9 years?? Since then? So I’m having to re-teach myself a lot and basically: there is nothing you can’t teach yourself with YouTube videos and fucking up a bunch of times! So I’d suggest that. Watch a lot of video tutorials. Try at hand sewing some small things (for example, a simple unstructured bonnet - the American Duchess guide to 18th century dressmaking has some great small handsewing projects!) before investing in a sewing machine. Then get the biggest ugliest cheapest sewing machine you can find (trust me they almost all work, mine is 30 years old) and buy some cheap fabric and cheap patterns and just make a total mess as you figure them out. At the end of the day, it’s fun! But it’s also a skill that’ll take some practice, so, practice - and go easy on yourself!sewing dressmaking

cosplay question i’m making a grantaire vest in a similar color to 2012 movie grantaire do i rllly need a color cause idk how to make one and my pattern doesn’t have itENJOLORAS
answered:
I’m assuming that was autocorrect messing up collar, but I hope this helps - both a cosplayer answer and a history nerd answer: History nerd answer: If you’re going for a super accurate 1830’s waistcoat, then yeah - collars and a short length were the standard for men’s waistcoats, and gave them the distinct look we associate with the time, as well as sort of…supported the collar of the shirt and cravat. Fun fact, some fashionable dandies would wear multiple waistcoats layered over the top in different colours and fabrics, giving their collars a ridiculously ostentatious look. If you’re interested in learning how to make one, I can try to source a pattern for you!Cosplayer answer:
Completely disregard everything I just said. No, seriously. At the end of the day, it’s YOUR cosplay. You can do whatever you do or don’t want, with whatever means you have or don’t have, and that’s that. It’ll still look fabulous, because you’re putting time, effort, and passion into it, and that’s literally the only thing you need for a good cosplay. I wish I could tell you how many corners I’ve cut with my own stuff before 😂 but we’d be here a while. What matters is what’s comfortable for YOU, and I promise no one is going to go ‘You fraud! There is no collar on this waistcoat! 1000 years in cosplay jail!’ And if they do they’re the kind of elitist pricks I hate in the cosplay community. So TLDR; you don’t need to do anything but what you want to do, but if you DO want to learn how to make a collar, hit me up and I’ll see if I can find something helpful 😊 spot-the-brooklyn-pirate my pattern looks like this so it’s not quite correct anywayunfortunately
but it will be the kind of right color and it’s good enough so\_(ツ)_/¯
thanks for the help! i figured you’d know a lot abt what it’s supposed to look like and i rly appreciate itenjoloras
Honestly I’m sure that’s going to look great 👍Good luck and I look forward to seeing the finished result!Source: enjoloras
