FINDING JOY IN THE MIDST OF STRESS It means joy can be found and created in the midst of it all. (I clench my jaw at night during times of high stress.) I don’t know what 2021 has in store for the world. I don’t anticipate a better year, but I guess there’s hope for improvement as the year goes on. What 2020 taught me is that I can create the moments that keep megoing
5 WAYS TO LOWER STRESS BEFORE A VACATION 1 // Cross Non-Essentials Off the To-Do List. I always have this idea that I’m going to accomplish a massive to-do list before I leave, but it’s not realistic. I made sure to leave off things I’d like to do and create a list of only things I need to do things that have an actual impact on my trip or that will be due while I’m gone. FIND JOY (EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THE HARD) // DREAMS, ETC. Maybe even forget. But my prayer is that we don’t want to forget this year. That the lessons we’ve learned through it are ones that we’d like to carry with us, even in the midst of the hard. My prayer for you is that you’ve made memories that are too precious to lose along with the rest of the year. Since today is the first it’s time to discuss the book that we read in GLENSHEEN MANSION + TWO HARBORS // A GIRL'S WEEKEND IN Glensheen is a historic estate on Lake Superior, owned by the University of Minnesota, Duluth. It’s known for a double-murder that took place in the 70’s; the owner and her night nurse were killed by her daughter’s husband. There was a candlestick involved, so it was a very Clue-like murder, and I think that part of its history is oneof

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP (WHATEVER THAT LOOKS LIKE FOR YOU) This weekend I attended my nephew’s music recital and, as always, I found those kids to be absolutely amazing in the pursuit of their music and I walked away with thoughts that I decided I’d pass on to you.Starting with: Keep Your Head Up. FINDING JOY IN THE MIDST OF STRESS It means joy can be found and created in the midst of it all. (I clench my jaw at night during times of high stress.) BOOK CLUB DISCUSSION // TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE Hello, everyone! Happy May! I hope you all have a wonderful start to the new month! I am so ready to put the last month behind me. It was stressful and a little tiring and it ended with a heart-to-heart with my mom and lots of puppy cuddles. But May is starting off with an exciting weekend and I’m excited for the month. Since today is the first it’s time to discuss the book that we read in WHY & HOW TO FORGIVE PEOPLE WHO HURT US (& DO WE HAVE TO A few months after I posted My Jonah Story a friend reached out and asked about forgiveness when people hurt us. It’s so easy to cut these people from our lives. This friend’s question was: is this wrong? Shouldn’t I forgive as Jesus forgives? A girl’s weekend with Lisa’s boyfriend (now husband!) but this was the first time we met him and it was great to get to know him. WORD OF THE YEAR 2021 // DREAMS, ETC. When I’m filled with joy, it doesn’t make life less stressful and it doesn’t take away from what’s happening, but it gives me the hope and motivation I need to continue. So that’s my word for 2021, my reminder: Joy. The reminder that joy isn’t based on my circumstances; it’s something that fills me. BE UNASHAMED WHEN YOU SHARE YOUR STORY // DREAMS, ETC. It’s hard to share our stories. It’s awkward to share things we’ve done that we wish we hadn’t. It’s uncomfortable to share things that have been done to us. If there’s something we’re struggling with at a certain moment in time, we keep it to ourselves. Our stories can fill us with shame and embarrassment. So we staysilent and

FINDING JOY IN THE MIDST OF STRESS It means joy can be found and created in the midst of it all. (I clench my jaw at night during times of high stress.) I don’t know what 2021 has in store for the world. I don’t anticipate a better year, but I guess there’s hope for improvement as the year goes on. SPIRITUAL PRACTICES FOR WHEN IT'S HARD TO PRAY // DREAMS, ETC. This isn’t to say that I don’t pray at all. I do. As I’ve treaded water and strained through the baleen, I’ve prayed for others. But when it’s about connecting personally with God for me, this has been one way that I’ve been able to do it. 2 // CONNECT WITH GOD THROUGH ART OR PRAYER PROMPTS. THE PERFECT ITINERARY FOR YOUR TWO DAY VISIT TO OTTAWA I have the perfect two day itinerary for you. You’ll see the city, learn the history and fall in love! Believe me. I went, felt all the heart eye emojis, and returned half a year later. First, let’s start with a little story: when I flew to Ottawa last fall, I flew in on a Thursday. I traveled by myself, so when my flight was overbooked I HONOR YOUR PROMISES TO YOURSELF Sometimes it feels unnatural. Sometimes it feels like we should be doing something else. But if you take care of your needs, you’ll take care of other needs better. Today I encourage you to take time to think about what promises you’ve made to yourself, or what promises you need to make to yourself. Make a note of them and then honor them. LIFE IN MINNEAPOLIS IN MAY AND JUNE 2020 Let’s go back to May. Protests started right away, but as the week went on, the city started to burn. That week became a blur of watching people that I follow on Instagram peacefully protesting followed by staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning watching reports of fires and destruction in the city.DISCLOSURES
