THE BUSY TRAP TRAP, PRODUCTIVITY AND DISTRACTIONS. SOLVED You are as distracted as you allow yourself to be. Now comes a New York Times column about the “Busy Trap” – how we keep ourselves busy in order togah, I don’t know. Read it here. I eventually did, though I was kind ofbusy. There was something about the author’s tone that galled me, that being “busy” was a bad thing. A PRAYER FOR PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE RESISTANCE Opposing viewpoints being debated rationally – there’s the rub. Most people high up on the social media food chain are so used to being adored by the social media sheep, er, I mean masses, that any disagreement with their ideology sets off a stream of anger and tears. MY TOP 5: YES, MYSPACE STILL EXISTS (OH, WAIT…) Image Credit: Jasmeet on Flickr. Whoops MySpace. For how many years have I and several other industry colleagues stressed the importance of owning your content, and that storing them on someone else’s platform isn’t good enough? ON THE DEATH OF THE QR CODE So, my good friend Aaron Strout, who knows a thing or two about location-based technology, declares the “death of the QR code.” I get it. That said, I am always suspicious of people declaring the “death” of any technology or service. WHY AREN'T WE EXPERIMENTING MORE? The first was in some ways an accident. Being a smartass, I decided to react to some random subscriptions to both of my Posterous blogs with a post telling people not to subscribe there. There’s no point. Of course, my hope was that some people would subscribe anyway, despite the complete lack of any benefit- in fact, the explicit promise of SOCIAL MEDIA TOP 5: POKEMON GO STAGES OF GOOD GRIEF Image Credit: txmx 2 on Flickr.
