MATERNITY - DOLPHIN RESEARCH CENTER Dolphin Research Center has been trying to breed dolphins since its foundation. Because not all of the dolphins at DRC are breeding dolphins (due to age & health), we must be very careful about genetic ties. Some marine mammal facilities participate in loaning programs to facilitate genetic diversity within their breeding programs. DOLPHINLAB FOR ADULTS Dolphin Research Center's Adult DolphinLab courses offer experiential education at its finest. Each six-day program features hands-on interactive activities and observation time with the dolphins, and an interesting, informative mix of dock-side demonstrations, hour-long discussion based seminars, workshops, and more. DOLPHIN RESEARCH CENTER Kelly Jaakkola is a cognitive psychologist, marine mammal scientist, and Director of Research for DRC. She earned her Master's degree in Psychology from Emory University, where she began her career studying cognition in chimpanzees and human children and received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from MIT. ACOUSTICS - DOLPHIN RESEARCH CENTER The dolphins at Dolphin Research Center, on the other hand, have developed quite a repertoire of sounds produced in the air. These sounds, such as "giggle" ( Hear a dolphin "giggle") and "raspberry," ( Hear a "razz" sound) were invented by the dolphins and encouraged by the staff. DolphinCamp learning activities differ each year to ensure a new experience for returning campers, and are tailored to be age appropriate. MATERNITY - DOLPHIN RESEARCH CENTER Dolphin Research Center has been trying to breed dolphins since its foundation. Because not all of the dolphins at DRC are breeding dolphins (due to age & health), we must be very careful about genetic ties. Some marine mammal facilities participate in loaning programs to facilitate genetic diversity within their breeding programs.SEA LION INFO
Sea lions feed on a variety of organisms including various fish (anchovies, herring, salmon, rockfish, and hake), squid and octopus. Sea lions at Dolphin Research Center eat herring, smelt, and capelin. Wild sea lions often feed cooperatively, eating 5 - 8% of their body weight each day, which is between 15 - 35 pounds (7 - 16 kg) of food.KIDS DOLPHIN FACTS
