DEVELOPMENT GATEWAY
For 20 years, we have built systems, dashboards, and tools to create more effective, open, and engaging institutions.. Through implementations across sectors, countries, and contexts, we’ve seen firsthand what makes data, technology, and evidence effective.PUBLICATIONS
DG’s publication library includes resources, reports, white papers, policy briefs based on our data landscaping work, and more. Written to be useful and usable, our Library is where we share learnings on barriers and incentives to data use, explore new ideas, and contributeto
ADVISE – DEVELOPMENT GATEWAY – DATA AND DIGITAL SOLUTIONS DG’s digital development is accompanied by guidance and coaching aimed at change management. We meet partners where they are in order to design new protocols and training that can be sustained. DG provides both rigorous technical and non-technical training, and data management plans for institutional partners to fully own new dataprocesses.
OUR EXPERTISE
The enabling environment – incentives, barriers, and needs – is key in determining whether data is actually used, while creating solutions and processes that involve input from real users further closes the data use gap. We bring this expertise to a range of sector-specific tools and research. BETTER DATA, BETTER RESULTS: UNICEF STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS The 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda offers the promise of new technologies, big data sources, and increased government statistical capacity for data-driven policy and progress. However, we cannot assume that more data will result in a better world. Moreover, a data revolution comes with risks: Will SDG reporting consume already-limited government statistical capacity? CROSSWALKING DATA RELATIONSHIPS FOR ANALYSIS In our last post we discussed the crosswalk portion of the Results Data Initiative, a project with the goal to make results data more useful and relatable across development organizations. This process involves three main steps: data gathering, data organization, and data comparing and merging (i.e. “crosswalking”). The first two steps allow us to produce a ‘microdata’ database using THE WOMEN IN MINING (WIM) INDEX: USING DATA TO MEASURE AND The South Africa Tobacco Control Data Initiative website is live!.
