For our smaller owl, we cut the mesh top from two coffee pods and used it to line bottle tops. A washer and nut completed the eye. For our larger tin can owl, we used jar lids, bottle tops, washers and nuts. Stick all the components into place and leave to dry. HOW TO MAKE WILDFLOWER SEED BOMBS • CRAFT INVADERS How to Make Wildflower Seed Bombs. We used the ratio of one cup of flour to 3 cups of compost and combined it well before adding our seed. Once we had added our seed, we tried to handle it gently so not to damage any of it! We added just enough water so that the mixture would hold together. HOW TO MAKE SIMPLE BEECH LEAF NOYAU • CRAFT INVADERS How to make Beech Leaf Noyau. Gather young, soft, bright green beech leaves shortly after they have unfurled. Remove any twigs and papery leaf casings. Lightly pack enough leaves in a jar so that a 700ml bottle of gin covers them. Seal the jar and leave for a minimum of 4 weeks. After this time, strain through fine muslin and discard theleaves.
HOW TO MAKE DELIGHTFUL DANDELION & LEMON BISCUITS • CRAFT Cream the sugar and butter until fluffy. Add the egg and lemon zest. Sift in the dry ingredients and combine well. Add in the lemon juice and Dandelion petals and mix. Dollop spoonfuls onto a baking tray and cook for approximately 12 mins at 180C/350F/gas four until golden. Cool the dandelion biscuits on a wire rack and enjoy with a cup oftea!
HOW TO MAKE DELICIOUS STINGING NETTLE LIQUEUR • CRAFT INVADERS To make I collected approximately 40 nettle tops, which I washed and dried in a salad spinner, and then popped in a jar with the zest of 2 lemons. I then topped up the jar with a litre of vodka and left it in a dark place for 48 hour to steep. ABOUT SARAH
I started Craft Invaders for the simple reason that I wanted my kids to see me make things, and to have a go at making things themselves. I love thinking up quirky craft ideas using everyday items that are found around the home, in nature, or are recycled. My two main passions are crafting and spending time outside so I combine the twowhenever I can.
