CODES AND NOTES
In this post I’ll examine how to implement a simple WebSocket-based notification system built on top of Spring. We’ll use the Stomp protocol over SockJS to communicate with either a JQuery-based client or an Angular application. FROM STATEFUL TO STATELESS RESTFUL SECURITY USING SPRING After a quick introduction we are now ready to begin our journey towards stateless authentication for RESTful APIs by setting up a stateful example. Yes I know, but we have to start somewhere, right? In this part we'll set up our project and code a couple of simple endpoints. One of those will be secured using Spring Security's session-based authentication. CASSANDRA PAGINATION FOR STATELESS WEB APPS USING CQL OR Since version 2.0, Cassandra's auto-pagination feature has simplified pagination quite a bit if you can persist a ResultSet! What if the context is a stateless web application, where we actually would rather avoid memorizing whole result sets' states for every connected user? OPENPGP INTEGRATION (JAVA AND JAVASCRIPT): OPENPGP.JS Use the OpenPGP.js library to generate RSA key pairs, encrypt and decrypt messages with a few simple lines of JavaScript code GENERATE SSH KEYS USING ANSIBLE While working on a project, I noticed I needed to generate SSH keys using Ansible to configure my Ubuntu servers. Usually I would do that with the help of ssh-keygenThat could indeed take the form of a shelltask.
ELLIPTIC CURVE CRYPTOGRAPHY WITH OPENPGP.JS Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC in short) brings asymmetric encryption with smaller keys. In other words, you can encrypt your data faster and with an equivalent level of security, using comparatively smaller encryption keys. SPRING SECURITY'S CSRF PROTECTION FOR REST SERVICES: THE Spring Security offers CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection by default for Java web applications. In this post I will examine how you can make that CSRF protection work for a web client interacting with REST-based CSRF-protected services. Both the web client's code and the server application's configuration will be described. FROM STATEFUL TO STATELESS RESTFUL SECURITY USING SPRING Hello! In my opinion I would keep the CSRF and Auth tokens separate. The thing with the secure Auth cookie is, should an attacker manage to inject some malevolent script in your front-end, he still cannot access the actual content of that cookie, which is the token. VALIDATING SPRING REST CONTROLLERS' BEANS USING THE BEAN The other day I was working on a feature that required data to be submitted to a REST service. Even though the data is validated on theclient-side, it

WRITING AND TESTING CUSTOM ANGULAR VALIDATORS: THE Validators: easy to use, tricky to build Well, not that tricky as we’ll see in this post. In my very humble opinion, Angular has done a pretty decent work in making the writing of your custom validators as painless as possible. In the majority of cases you will not need to write your own validators: Angular took care of that for you for mostsituations.

FROM STATEFUL TO STATELESS RESTFUL SECURITY USING SPRING Last time we reviewed how to quickly set up stateful authentication on our Spring-based project. That's very nice 'n' all, and in many cases you won't need anything more. However shouldn't we try to get rid of that session-based dependency and attempt to move to a REST-friendly stateless authentication solution? Let's begin VALIDATING SPRING REST CONTROLLERS' BEANS USING THE BEAN The other day I was working on a feature that required data to be submitted to a REST service. RESTFUL AUTHENTICATION USING SPRING SECURITY ON SPRING Today's web applications expect some RESTful services to provide them with the data they need. But what about securing those accesses? In this post, I provide a full example of form-based RESTful authentication against a Spring Boot + Spring Security back-end. FROM STATEFUL TO STATELESS RESTFUL SECURITY USING SPRING Previously we have managed to finally get rid of that Session object and transform our RESTful API security to leverage a stateless authentication solution. We replaced our beloved JSESSIONID with a simple string of text, a token, that allowed us to identify a user. But the solution we used is not secure at all. We still need to find a token with the right characteristics to be safe enough in ANGULARJS CONDITIONAL "REQUIRE" VALIDATION Yep. I’ve been happily developing in AngularJS for more than a year now, and I have just noticed the directive! You would not believe what I hacked before I found about ng-required (and thanks heavens that hack o’ mine never had the chance to go in production!).CODES AND NOTES
First Steps with Guice. By Diego , In Code, Java. A majority of Java developers came to embrace and love Spring’s Inversion of Control (IoC) to inject dependencies. However not all projects are Spring-based! One may want to consider alternatives for taking care of dependency injection. And one of those options is the Guice framework. GENERATE SSH KEYS USING ANSIBLE Generate SSH keys using Ansible’s “openssh_keypair”. The openssh_keypair module was made available in Ansible from version 2.8. It does exactly what we need to do, and it does it in the simplest possible way: - name: generate SSH key. hosts: 127.0.0.1. connection: local. vars: ssh_key_filename: id_rsa_myproject. tasks: FROM STATEFUL TO STATELESS RESTFUL SECURITY USING SPRING After a quick introduction we are now ready to begin our journey towards stateless authentication for RESTful APIs by setting up a stateful example. OPENPGP INTEGRATION (JAVA AND JAVASCRIPT): OPENPGP.JS OpenPGP can very easily generate key pairs, including ECC keys since version 3. We shall stick to RSA keys for this tutorial, though. So, having imported the openpgp library we can now obtain our RSA key pairs as follows: ME? A Java / JavaScript developer, CC-licensed music lover and movie bulimic.
