Our teams are enthusiastic about working with fresh talent, helping them build new skills, and making sure they gain confidence in the workplace and their career path. At Code for America, we believe a human-centered safety net is possible. We believe government must work for the people, and by the people, in the digital age, starting with the people who need it most. We are piloting new service delivery approaches through the Integrated Benefits Initiative and OVERCOMING BARRIERS: HELPING SELF-EMPLOYED APPLICANTS Introduction. In safety net programs, different rules apply to people in different circumstances. Whether someone has stable housing, is a student, or is self-employed makes a big difference in determining eligibility and benefit amounts. GETTING THE RIGHT DATA TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE AT THE RIGHT Description. Every day, public servants make life-impacting decisions around incredibly difficult issues like allocating supportive housing, treating mental health crises, and reducing mass incarceration. People who are chronically homeless are exempt from work requirements in the CalFresh program. In safety net programs, different rules apply to people in different circumstances. Whether someone has stable housing, is a student, or is self-employed makes a big difference in determining eligibility and benefit amounts. Every day, public servants make life-impacting decisions around incredibly difficult issues like allocating supportive housing, treating mental health crises, and reducing mass incarceration.
