RON STONER | CLUB OF THE WAVES Ron Stoner is widely considered to be one of the original masters of surf photography, cited by many photographers today as a great influence in their work.Stoner led the way during the late 1960s, where he landed many covers of Surfer magazine, shooting numerousiconic photos.
CAMILLE ROBIOU DU PONT Camille is a French-born photographer and filmmaker.She has been based in Asia since 2012 and has now found her home on a small island in the Philippines.. She finds inspiration in nature, femininity, the ocean, and the sky — and her body of work is a nod to these influences.RON WEIDEMAN
Ron Weideman (aka Ronzo) grew up in Detroit. Started working in Advertising, and was lucky enough to swing a transfer to Australia in 1984. Ron prefers to work in oils, acrylics, pastels, and many other mixed textures on canvas, linen, board, and metals. He loves to paint Australian surfing scenarios and ideals. HISTORY OF THE SURFBOARD The first fibreglass board was built by a man named Pete Peterson in 1946, this surfboard was a hollow plastic mould, with a redwood stringer (a piece of wood running down the centre of the surfboard) and sealed with fibreglass tape. Abstract art is ‘art that doesn’t accurately depict reality’. Shapes, textures, colours, and gestural brushstrokes are used to create either an abstract representation of a subject or scene, or a visual not based in reality, as opposed to creating a realistic or impressionistic representation of a subject matter.. This feature is a curation of surfing, waves, and surf culture inspired ANCIENT HAWAIIAN SURFBOARD BUILDING The wooden surfboards were made using Wili Wili, Ula, and Koa trees. They ranged from 10-16 feet long depending on social class. 10-12 feet for commoners. And 14-16 feet for noblemen and chiefs. Damien Clavé is a French artist installed since 2008 on the island of Réunion. It is on this island that he discovers the joys of surfing and the beautiful landscapes that will make most of his pictorial inspiration. Big wave surfers. The origins of big wave surfing date back to the 1940s and 50s. George Downing, Wally Froiseth, Woody Brown, and Buzzy Trent (among others), are considered the forefathers of big wave riding. It was these heroic surfers that were the first to take on the big waves at Makaha, Hawaii.TYPES OF SURFBOARD
