CLIMATE ALLIANCE
For over 30 years, Climate Alliance member municipalities have been acting in partnership with indigenous rainforest peoples for the benefit of the global climate. With more than 1,800 members spread across 27 European countries, Climate Alliance is the world’s largest city network dedicated to climate action and the only one toset tangible

Climate Alliance was founded in 1990 when a group of 33 institutions comprised of 12 municipalities from Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as 6 indigenous organisations of the Amazon Basin met in Frankfurt, Germany, motivated take action against the climatic changestaking place.

The Climate Alliance Executive Board represents the network both internally and externally. It consists of up to 13 representatives from various member municipalities spread across Europe as well as a representative of Climate Alliance’s indigenous partner organisation, COICA.Each member is elected by the membership at the annual General Assembly for a two-year term.CLIMATE ALLIANCE
In SaMBA, Climate Alliance is working with 12 project partners from five countries in the Alpine region. The transnational approach of the project facilitates the harmonisation of policies throughout the region with a focus on the characteristic mobility behaviour in this interconnected area. Project funding period: April 2018 – April2021.

FALCO addresses this problem by developing a financing solution for the climate plans of over 180 Flemish Covenant of Mayors signatories. For 30 YEARS, Climate Alliance member municipalities have been acting in partnership with indigenous rainforest peoples for the benefit of the global climate. With over 1,700 members spread across 27 European countries, Climate Alliance is the world’s largest city network dedicated to climate action and the only one to set tangible targets. Recognising the impact our lifestyles can have on the world's most vulnerable people and places, Climate Alliance pairs local action with global responsibility.TANGIBLE TARGETS
The towns and cities of the Alliance have each passed a local resolution on membership, in which they embrace the following voluntary commitments: * TO REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS BY 10 PERCENT EVERY 5 YEARS, equivalent to the halving of per capita emissions by 2030 (from a 1990 baseline) * To strive for a per capita emissions level of 2.5 tonnes CO2 equivalent through energy conservation, energy efficiency and the useof renewable energy
* To work towards CLIMATE JUSTICE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INDIGENOUS PEOPLES by supporting their initiatives, raising awareness, and abstaining from the use of unsustainably managed tropical timberJOIN NOW
