ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION: A COMMON UNDERSTANDING Online child sexual exploitation is an issue that is becoming more prevalent across the whole world. SAFEGUARDING YOUNG PEOPLE: RESPONDING TO YOUNG PEOPLE AGED Child protection research has paid relatively little attention to adolescents – often tending to treat all children and young people between the ages of 0 and 17 as a homogeneous group. An international review undertaken a decade ago (Rees & Stein, 1999) found very little research on child protection issues with a specific focus on olderyoung people.
REHABILITATION OF THE VICTIMS OF CHILD TRAFFICKING: A The multidisciplinary approach (MDA) to the rehabilitation of victims of child trafficking is an effort to streamline, professionalize and improve the rehabilitation process. It is based on the principle that effective rehabilitation of child victims of trafficking requires systematic and coordinated services from physicians, psychologists, legal experts, social workers and other relevant experts. HOW CAN WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE BUILD A BETTER FUTURE An inspiring TED talk by the UNICEF executive director Henrietta Fore, talking about the responsibility adults have to give young people a fighting chance for their futures. “Meeting their (young people`s) needs will be a big challenge but also a big opportunity” she says. Referring to the young people as a Generation Unlimited, Ms Fore explores their – very justified – fears. LONDON SAFEGUARDING TRAFFICKED CHILDREN TOOLKIT The toolkit is linked to the London Safeguarding Trafficked Children Guidance and includes a number of additional tools to assist professionals in both assessing the needs of the child and the continuing risks that they may face, and referring their case to the competent authority (UKBA will fulfil this role for asylum cases, UKHTC for all other cases). DOMESTIC ABUSE AND CHILD WELFARE: A PRACTICE GUIDE FOR A Practice Guide for Social Workers regarding domestic abuse and child welfare was published in April 2020 by BASW.
