THE BAND – CITY OF CHICAGO PIPE BAND The City of Chicago Pipe Band was established in the summer of 2003 and began immediately performing as such throughout the greater metropolitan area. The Band’s first competitive season was 2004 in Grade 3 and was promoted in 2007 to Grade 2. The Band continued to do well and were promoted in 2012 to Grade 1.THE ACADEMY
The Academy. The intent of our piping and drumming academy is to teach and develop our students to become comprehensive musicians. Our faculty includes some of the region’s most renowned players, successful competitors, accomplished leaders, and respected instructors who are committed to proper stewardship of the nextgeneration.

The band leadership and past honorees will work together to nominate another veteran each spring and they will take their place below in the City of Chicago Pipe Band Veterans HonorRoll.

He learned to drum in the Midlothian Juniors, advanced to play nine seasons with the Midlothian Scottish in Grade 2 and then moved on to lead his first corps with Chicago Caledonian also in Grade 2. Patrick Higgins started piping 2007. He learned from Patrick Lynch as a student of the what shortly thereafter became the Chicago Academy of Piping and Drumming and is the longest-serving alumni from that program in the band since. He became one of the original members of the City of Chicago Pipe Band’s Grade 5 band under P/M Steve Moorein 2008.

THE BAND – CITY OF CHICAGO PIPE BAND The City of Chicago Pipe Band was established in the summer of 2003 and began immediately performing as such throughout the greater metropolitan area. The Band’s first competitive season was 2004 in Grade 3 and was promoted in 2007 to Grade 2. The Band continued to do well and were promoted in 2012 to Grade 1.THE ACADEMY
The Academy. The intent of our piping and drumming academy is to teach and develop our students to become comprehensive musicians. Our faculty includes some of the region’s most renowned players, successful competitors, accomplished leaders, and respected instructors who are committed to proper stewardship of the nextgeneration.

HONOR – CITY OF CHICAGO PIPE BAND Honor. In 2017, the City of Chicago Pipe Band made the decision to dedicate all of our performances to honor a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. The band leadership and past honorees will work together to nominate another veteran each spring and they will take their place below in the City of Chicago Pipe Band Veterans HonorRoll.

PARTY IN PLAID
Get a LEAP on St. Patrick’s Day at our third annual Party in Plaid! On February 29, 2020, you are invited to join in on the fun at the International Union of Operating Engineers 399 hall located at at 2260 S. Grove Street, Chicago, IL 60616. The party begins at 7pm and will feature performances by both the Grade 3 and Grade 4 groups from the SUPPORT – CITY OF CHICAGO PIPE BAND Support. The band could not operate solely on our earned revenue from performances and out of members’ own contributions. Donors are invaluable allowing us to continue perpetuating the traditions of piping and drumming in the greater Chicago area and representing our community when we travel to other regions and abroad!ANDREW HOINACKI
Andrew Hoinacki is a Chicago area native. He learned to drum in the Midlothian Juniors, advanced to play nine seasons with the Midlothian Scottish in Grade 2 and then moved on to lead his first corps with Chicago Caledonian also in Grade 2. He was a founding member of the City of Chicago Pipe Band in the summer of 2003 but departed laterthat
