Initially established as a field of interest fund by the 2008-2009 Community Foundation Board of Governors, this fund enriches our community by addressing the needs of area women and girls. The founding vision is a fund made up 1,000 women, each willing to pledge $1,000. The long range goal, then, is a $1 million endowment. THE UKROP’S ENDOWMENT FUND The Ukrop’s Endowment Fund was established by brothers Bobby and Jim Ukrop in 2000, the year they opened a local Ukrop’s grocery store. The high-impact fund brought critical clout and resources at a time when The Community Foundation was emerging as a significant communityasset.

Since 2013, the Women and Girls Fund of The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region has granted nearly $120,000 to 24 organizations with the mission of helping improved the lives of local women and girls..
