July 16, 2020 – Ottawa (Ontario) – Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) regrets to announce that Andreas Dittmer (Men’s Sprint Canoe Head Coach) will be returning to his home country to join the German Canoe Federation in the lead up to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. “We are proud to have recruited Andreas back into the sport system and we were thrilled to have him join our coaching team for the PARACANOE | CANOE KAYAK CANADA Paracanoe lingo. Ama – the pontoon on an outrigger V1 boat. Classification – the process of assessing an athletes’ ability based on certain criteria so they can be properly placed in the LTA, TA or A category. Blade/shaft – on a paddle, the blade is the wide end part that grips the water and the shaft is the cylindrical connector. A kayak paddle has two blades and a canoe paddle has one blade and a “t-grip” on the other end. Boot/block – with a starting system the paddler place the nose of their boat in a boot or block which drops below the surface with the starting signal.
