Cake Calligraphy Tutorial - Part A: Transferring a pattern Before you can start to decorate, you’ll need to transfer your design onto a fondant-covered cake. Use a fine fabric such as chiffon or netting and an edible pen to trace the design onto the cake before adding colour and embellishment. Trace your design onto a piece of fine fabric HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT DRIP CAKE In this drip cake tutorial from Cake Confidence by Mandy Merriman, Mandy takes you through the decorating process step-by-step as well as how to finish your cake with piped buttercream rosettes or swirls. (Continued from our Cake Confidence feature, Part 1: How to Expertly Buttercream a Cake – The Easy Way.) Drip Cake Tutorial. For the ganache, melt candy melts or chocolate with heavy PATTERNED ROLL CAKE RECIPE & TUTORIAL In a clean bowl, beat 1 egg white with an electric mixer until glossy and stiff peaks are about to form. Add a pinch of cornflour and continue to beat until stiff. Add 3 Tbsp meringue from Step 4 to batter from Step 3 and mix well. Pour into paper cone. Cut tip of cone and pipe strawberry shapes onto parchment paper. BUTTERCREAM FLOWER TUTORIAL Hold the piping bag in your dominant hand and keep your wrist locked. Tilt the narrow part of the tip to your left. 3. With your rose foundation already in place, place the piping tip’s wide side on the center of the foundation, and create a number “9”-shape toward the base of the flower nail, wrapping the foundation with the buttercream. Cakes with bunting are a huge design trend at the moment. Nothing says “party-time” quite like a bit of bunting so it makes a great decoration for a cake for any occasion. LAMBETH PIPING & TUTORIALS Lambeth piping is one of the most skilled techniques in cake decorating and probably the most admired too. It’s named after Joseph Lambeth who popularized this ornate style of cake decorating in his book The Lambeth Method in 1934.. Lambeth piping is based on the centuries old English tradition of “overpiping”, creating rows and rows of intricate piped details, scrolls and garlands.
