BEYOND EXCUSES
If you want to pin or bookmark this devotion, please use the permanent link: Beyond Excuses.
We human beings love excuses. We so easily see ourselves as victims Licking our wounds... Obsessing about the impossibility of our obstacles... Blaming our irresponsibility on our parents, teachers, and leaders... Despising our hardships and handicaps. When we do this, we choose to be like Cain Decrying injustice... Feeling no sorrow for those we’ve hurt... Sorry only for ourselves... Demanding things we don’t deserve... Or we can reject Cain's example... And look to another Bible example... _WE CAN SEEK TO BE OVERCOMING JOSEPHS... _ _HOLDING ON, STANDING FIRM..._ _BEARING THE BURDEN OF GREAT DREAMS..._ _WAITING AND BELIEVING._ God’s Kingdom is found beyond excuses... So let's stop making them. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power, do not think of yourself more highly than you ought…Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Endure hardship as discipline.” 1 Corinthians 4:20 ;Romans 12:3 , 12
, 21
; Hebrews 12:7

HOW SHOULD CHRISTIANS RESPOND TO THE CORONAVIRUS? Some Christians are taking no precautions, quoting Psalm 91,
and claiming God will protect them. Psalm 91:3 specifically says God will save us from deadly disease, but is that a promise? Jesus answers that question:In Luke 4:9-12
,
Satan suggests Jesus jump off the top of the temple because God promises to protect Him. And guess what…SATAN DIRECTLY QUOTES PSALM91:11-12!
Jesus answers: “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” Obviously, Psalm 91 does not suggest we should take unnecessary riskswith our health.
In addition:
1. God commanded quarantines in the Old Testament (Number 5:2).
2. Proverbs 27:12 warns usto be prudent.
3. Philippians 2:3-4 warns us to think of the interests of others. 4. Romans 13:1 tells us to obey government regulations unless those regulations violate Scripture(Acts 5:28-29
).
God doesn’t guarantee perfect health, but we need not fear. He loves us and promises to use all things for our good (Romans 8:28; Proverbs 3:5-6
;
1 John 4:18 ).
So let’s take reasonable precautions, obey the instructions of those in authority, and consider how our actions might affect the health ofothers.

LIVING SACRIFICES
Old Testament sacrifices foreshadowed Christ's final sacrifice for our sins (Hebrews 10:1-18).
Those sacrifices were killed. We also offer a sacrifice to God.A living sacrifice.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." Romans 12:1 What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? The next verse (12:2 ) explains: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." As living sacrifices, we: 1. Refuse to conform to culture's ungodly principles. 2. Renew our minds in God’s Word. 3. Sincerely seek to do God’s will. Christ told us this would involve self-denial and trust in God's Word(Luke 9:23-26
).
Dear Christians, we’re facing great opposition. Let’s never forget Christ’s sacrifice or our own.Bible Love Notes
