THE SECOND OLDEST SIN: PEER PRESSURE Eve was deceived by Satan, and she committed the first sin when she rejected God’s Word and ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-6).
But Adam ate the forbidden fruit with full knowledge of what he was doing. He was not deceived (1 Timothy 2:14).(1)
Adam gave in to "peer pressure." Modern Christians do the same thing when we let cultural peer pressure convince us to approve sexual immorality, ungodly entertainment, and other things contrary to God's Word. Standing silent is the first step. Adam stood silent when Satan deceived Eve. Then he joined Eve in hersin.
God put Adam in charge of the new world, and he trashed it because he decided to please Eve instead of pleasing God (Genesis 3:17-19).(2)
Dear Christians, we are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that may declare the praises of him who called out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9 ). Let’s not stand silent just to "fit in" with our culture. _Scroll down for helpful Scripture verses and additional 1-minute devotions related to this subject. _-------------
(1) Adam's sin was worse than Eve's: ⇒ 1 Timothy 2:14: _Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived... __
_ ⇒ Adam appears to have been with Eve while Satan was persuading her to eat the fruit, but there is no hint that Adam reminded her of God's command nor any hint that he hesitated to eat the fruit (Genesis3:6 ).
⇒ Was he afraid of offending Eve or simply wanting to please her? We don't know, but Scripture clearly explains that Adam was notdeceived.
⇒ Adam sinned willfully, which makes his sin worse than Eve's sin(Luke 12:47-48
).
(2) Genesis 3:17-19: _To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”_ _Let's ponder, recite, or memorize these Scriptures:_1
Corinthians 16:13 : _Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong._ 1 Corinthians 15:58 : _Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain._ _I encourage you to read these 1-minute devotions that reinforce the truths in this devotion:_ The Oldest Sin in the Book 4 Signs We’re People-Pleasers 4 Ways Christians Can Stand Firm in a Declining Culture When People Abandon Faith: 3 Reasons to Stand Firm A marriage post related to Adam's sin: For the Love of a WomanBible Love Notes

#3: BLESSED ARE THE MEEK BLESSED ARE THE MEEK FOR THEY WILL INHERIT THE EARTH.Matthew 5:5
The Greek word translated _meek_ does not simply mean gentleness. Biblical meekness is gentleness, humility, and strength combined: it is present in godly leaders as well as faithful followers. A meek person is not overly sensitive, demanding, rude, self-centered, or arrogant (Philippians 2:3).
She listens carefully, speaks thoughtfully, and isn’t easily angered(James 1:19 ).
She doesn’t avoid sharing the salt of the gospel, but she does so graciously (Colossians 4:6 ). And how do the meek inherit the earth? Does this mean they’ll be rich and comfortable in this life? Meekness can result in earthly success, but that’s not the blessing of this beatitude. The meek will still have earthly problems, but they’ll find contentment in the midst of them, never feeling angry toward God nor demanding the easy road. The meek know that their true inheritance is in the heavenly “promised land,” and they long to be home with their Lord (Hebrews11:16 ).

THE OLDEST SIN IN THE BOOK God’s Word can change us. We can’t change it. God is our Designer and Creator. We aren’t God’s designer andcreator.
Some people forget this truth and decide that parts of God’s Word are no longer relevant. They may suggest that Scripture has been misunderstood. Or they may argue that since God created sexual intimacy, He wouldn't forbid homosexuality or premarital sex. Whatever their reasoning, they allow modern teachers to suggest God's Wordcontains errors.
And when they do this, they’re committing the oldest sin in the Book - not one of the oldest, but THE oldest sin. God told man he would die if he ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis2:16-17
).
Satan told Eve she wouldn’t die. She’d become like God. So she ateit (Genesis 3:4-6
).
Perhaps Eve decided God’s Word was no longer relevant. Perhaps she thought Adam had misunderstood God’s command. She knew God loved fruit, so why would He forbid this particular variety? Whatever her reasoning, she let Satan suggest that God’s warning wasn't true. Just like Satan was behind Eve’s downfall, he’s behind any modern teaching that questions or denies God's Word.------------------
Let's deepen our trust in God and His Word by pondering thesepassages:
💙 2 Timothy 3:16-17:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 💙 Hebrews 4:12 : "The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." 💙 Psalm 119:103-105:
"How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."Bible Love Notes
