Ausflag is an apolitical, non-profit organisation seeking to secure the popular support of the Australian people for the adoption of a truly Australian flag. 2021 SELECTED FLAG SUBMISSIONS 2021 selected flag submissions. A simple, straightforward, minimalist design based on the Southern Cross, a revered symbol in both the indigenous and settler cultures, intentionally made bolder to make it look spirited and unmistakable. The chevron in the hoist of the flag symbolizes Australia's pioneering spirit, ever moving forward. AUSTRALIAN STATE AND TERRITORY FLAGS Australian Capital Territory. New South Wales. Northern Territory UNION FLAG 1788-1801 Union Flag 1788-1801. Captain James Cook flew the first ever flag as we know it on Australian soil when he took possession of the east coast of Australia (in the name of King George III) at Botany Bay on 29 April 1770. The flag flown was, of course, the Union Flag of Great Britain. However, the Union Flag didn′t officially fly on Australian WHY THE FLAG SHOULD CHANGE Why the Flag Should Change.
