With the Vietnam War raging on and the wounds from the Civil Rights struggle still fresh, John Fogerty’s title track declaration that the “world smolderin'” was something of an understatement, a sentiment that Fogerty carried into subsequent albums ATLCOLLECTIVE, AUTHOR AT ATL COLLECTIVE Frustrated by a general lack of cohesion in the Atlanta music scene and decreasing interest in full-length albums, David Berkeley and Micah Dalton formed the ATL Collective in 2009, hoping to spark a sense of collaboration among local and national acts, and pay tributeto classic works.

A symbol of cultural vibrancy on Auburn Avenue in the 50s and 60s, the Peacock hosted an array of soul music innovators from Little Richard, to Sam Cooke, to Nina Simone. BRIAN WILSON AND THE WORLD WITHIN If you can possibly listen past the veneer of immaculate, lush, and imposing compositions within The Beach Boys masterpiece Pet Sounds, it feels nearly confessional.With the help of jingle writer Tony Asher, who ended up writing most of the lyrics for Pet Sounds, Brian Wilson co-wrote a largely sentimental rock record that tackles issues like love, isolation, and moments of hazy angst. ZOMBIES' ODESSEY AND ORACLE Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle. So where to start? The Zombies were in a bit of a bad place in 1967. Odessey and Oracle was the result offrustration.
