ABOUT
Hi! Thanks for visiting my website. I’m April, a Montreal-based author, editor, and teacher. My fiction, poetry, and essays have appeared in print and online journals in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Germany, and Scotland. I’m the lucky recipient of a Pushcart Prize for my short story “Project Fumarase,” and I’ve held fully funded residencies at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Ucross Foundation. My books include _DEATH IS A SIDE-EFFECT: POEMS_ (Frog Hollow
Press, 2019) and the award-winning story collection, _THE POORCHILDREN
_
(SFWP, 2015). My debut novel, _CAROUSEL_,
is forthcoming Spring 2020 with Inanna Publications.Credit:
Bernardo Fernandez, 2019. For more than 15 years, I’ve helped at-risk youth, university students, community groups, and non-traditional learners explore their passions and aptitudes for creative expression. I’m especially interested in character and voice in oral, print, and digital storytelling. As a facilitator/mentor, I enjoy working with writers at all stages and from all walks of life to help them spark (or revive) boldness within themselves.FIND ME ONLINE:
