CORTEZ BRIDGE REPLACEMENT STARTING SOONER THAN Updated Feb. 8, 2021 at 12:15 p.m. – CORTEZ – A new, high-rise Cortez Bridge is coming and it may be sooner than you think. COUNTY APPROVES PINEY POINT DEEP INJECTION WELL MANATEE COUNTY – County commissioners have approved a construction agreement for a deep injection well as part of the efforts to permanently close the Piney Point property. The county-run vaccination site at Tom Bennett Park, 280 Kay Road, Bradenton, has 5,100 first doses for seniors this week PRIVATEERS FOURTH OF JULY PARADE IS A GO HOLMES BEACH – With the support of Holmes Beach city leaders, the Anna Maria Island Privateers’ Fourth of July Processional is officially coming back in 2021. Commissioners voted unanimously during a May 25 meeting to approve the temporary event permit for the parade, giving their stamp of approval for the return of one of the Island’s CLASS OF 2021: AME FRIENDS STICK TOGETHER THROUGH HIGH The Class of 2021 high school graduates who attended Anna Maria Elementary School (AME) is no different. As the fifth-graders, teachers and staff at AME felt the bittersweet emotions of the last day of school last week, the seniors at Manatee High School and Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School, and the like, were feeling similaremotions.
