I had met Stephanie Thomas at the CTD state conference in San Antonio and was excited to receive an envelope posted from El Paso, Texas where Stephanie worked for the local Independent Living Center. 1990 – WASHINGTON – MICHAEL WINTER A few minutes later we all began chanting, and Congressmen came to assure us that the ADA would be passed. These individuals included House Speaker Foley, Republican leader Michel, and Congressman Hoyer. We got louder and louder and all of a sudden, chains came out and people began to chain themselves in a circle. JUDGE ROTENBERG CENTER: A HISTORY OF TORTURE. The abuse of people with disabilities at the Judge Rotenberg Center in Canton, MA, drastically accelerated in 1990, when its infamous founder, Matthew Israel, devised a money-making patent that would apply painful shocks to residents at any time of the day – while they ate, when they showered, even while they slept – via a “IT IS MIND AND BODY TORTURE” She describes GED: JRC put 5 electrodes on her body about 6 inches long, typically on the limbs: calves, arms, and stomach.
