The Second District Court of Appeal is committed to limiting the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the health of our staff, the public, and their families, while continuing to conduct court business, resolve cases, and provide exceptional court services. Until further notice, most of the court's workforce is working remotely, and access to the Lakeland office is limited to authorized employees and those with pre-approval for entrance. ALL PERSONS WISHING TO CONDUCT BUSINESS IN PERSON, INCLUDING SELF-REPRESENTED/“PRO SE” FILERS, SHOULD FIRST CALL THE CLERK'S OFFICE AT (863) 940-6060 BETWEEN 8:00 A.M. AND 5:00 P.M. WEEKDAYS. The Clerk can provide instructions on how to submit filings without visiting the courthouse. While the deputy at the Lakeland office will receive filings for the Clerk’s Office, in-person visits arediscouraged.

The review process is normally by three-judge panels and on occasion by the entire court. Appellate review is designed to correct harmful errors and ensure that decisions are consistent with our rights and liberties under the applicable law. The judges on our court are committed to the vision that justice in Florida will be accessible, fair, effective, responsive, and accountable. In addition to our 16 judges, we have an outstanding group of staff members, including staff attorneys, who enable us to resolve our large caseload in a timely manner.
