WELCOME TO THE 1940 AIR TERMINAL MUSEUM! _DEMONSTRATING THE IMPACT OF AVIATION ON HOUSTON'S HISTORY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE PRISM OF ARCHITECTURAL BEAUTY._ The museum is housed in the historic art deco terminal building that once served the City of Houston as the Houston Municipal Airport. The terminal is now a protected landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A visit to the Museum also affords a front row vantage point to Hobby Airport's diverse airport operations. Between airline traffic, business aviation and frequent fixed wing and rotary wing general aviation traffic, it’s as if the Museum has an air show every day! The entire ground floor of the historic Terminal is occupied by the Museum. The restoration of the upper floors, including the observation decks and the tower cab, is pending. Our campus has expanded to include the restored 1928 Carter Field Airmail Hangar and a piece of public artwork created by local artist GONZO247!. We are located at 8325 Travelair Street, Houston, Texas 77061, on the west side of Hobby Airport, just east of Telephone Road. The Museum is open 10-5 Tuesday through Saturday, and 1-5 on Sundayafternoons.
Regular admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids ages 12-2. Kids 2 and under are free. The Museum also offers free admission for Museum Members, active duty and retired members of the military, law enforcement and fire fighters. The Terminal and Hangar are being restored and operated by the Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.UPCOMING EVENTS.
