The 16 th Air Army was born in August 1942 in the hell of Stalingrad from elements of the 8th Air Army and air reserves of the Supreme High Command of the Red Army. The 16th Air Army (16 vozdushnaya armiya - 16.VA) was, until its departure from unified Germany in the spring of 1994, the mainstay of the Soviet Military Air Forces (VVS) in GDR LUFTWAFFE MIG-29 EXPERIENCE Negatives. "The employment of the MiG-29 suffers from severe inherent constraints. The most obvious limitation is the aircraft’s limited internal fuel capacity of 3500-kg (4400 kg with a centreline tank). We have no air-to-air refuelling capability, and our external tank is both speed and manoeuvre limited. We also have only a limited number GABRIEL OVER GERMANY The Gabriel headed for Hamburg at the end of the northern corridor, then proceeded towards Malmö in Sweden prior to heading east over the Baltic Sea. The serial production scheduled to take place at Factory n°387 in Kazan' was already approved in December 1952.
