BOLD SYSTEMS V3
The BOLD platform is comprised of a set of integrated databases. Some of these databases like the Public Data Portal and BIN database are primary sources of data while the publication and primer databases play a supporting role.PUBLIC DATA PORTAL
PUBLIC DATA PORTAL. The Public Data Portal supports queries based on taxonomy (scientific names only), geography, attribution fields (i.e. collectors and taxonomists), specimen depositories, project or dataset codes, specimen and sequence identifiers (sampleids, museumids, processed, etc). Free text searches are allowed, the system will tryto
BOLD IDENTIFICATION ENGINE BOLD Identification Engine. The library of sequences collected in BOLD is available for facilitating identification of unknown sequences. The BOLD Identification Engine uses all sequences uploaded to BOLD from public and private projects to locate the closest match. To ensure data security, sequences from private records are never exposed. DATABASES - BOLD SYSTEMS Databases. The BOLD platform contains a set of integrated databases that offer users access to primary BOLD data as well as supplementary information important for their research. All of these databases are publicly accessible on BOLD without a user account, however private data is masked from searches where applicable. EXPLORE THE DATA
DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE GENERATION & APPLICATION OF DNA BARCODE DATA BOLD is a cloud-based data storage and analysis platform developed at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics in Canada. It consists of four main modules, a data portal, an educational portal, a registry of BINs (putative species), and a data collection and analysis workbench.DATA PORTAL
A data retrieval interface that allows for searching over 1.7M public records in BOLD using multiple search criteria including, but not limited to, geography, taxonomy, and depository.EDUCATION PORTAL
A custom platform for educators and students to explore barcode data and contribute novel barcodes to the BOLD database.BIN DATABASE
A searchable database of Barcode Index Numbers (BINs), sequence clusters that closely approximate species.WORKBENCH
A data collection and analysis environment that supports the assembly and validation of DNA barcodes and other sequences.8,157K

Fungi & Other Species The Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD) is an online workbench and database that supports the assembly and use of DNA barcode data. It is a collaborative hub for the scientific community and a public resource for citizens at large.OVERVIEW
DNA barcoding is a taxonomic method, that uses one or more standardized short genetic markers in an organism’s DNA to identify it as belonging to a particular species. Through this method unknown DNA samples are identified to registered species based on comparison to a reference library.BUILT FOR RESEARCH
BOLD was built by members of the barcoding community to solve the bioinformatics chasm that many researchers face.DATA PRESERVATION
Primers, Electropherograms, Images and Sequences – every digital element of laboratory data has a place in BOLD.ACCESS FOR ALL
BOLD is freely available to anyone with interests in DNA barcoding, anywhere, anytime
FACILITATING RESEARCH BOLD aids the assembly of records that meet the BARCODE standards set out by the global community GLOBAL COLLABORATION BOLD’s web-based delivery and flexible data security model make it well positioned to support projects that involve broad researchalliances
SECURITY
BOLD keeps submitted data password protected until it is ready forpublication.
