There are dozens of days throughout the year dedicated to raising awareness about and taking action to address a wide variety ofcommunity issues.
YOUTH SERVICE ZONE GRANTS Youth Service America believes that youth, communities, and our democracy thrive when we all work together for the common good. Even though youth participation rates (volunteering, voting, and joining) are at or near record-high levels, we’re still leaving 3 of every 4 young people out of actively participating in our democracy. 4 REASONS YOUNG PEOPLE DON’T VOTE… AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT Here are 4 reasons young people tell us they don’t vote: 1. She made scarves to sell and used the funds to support a child in Nicaragua and an orphanage in Uganda, and also worked with her mother to feed people who are homeless. Sydnee Floyd (14 | Franklin, Tennessee) has been a champion for people living in poverty since a very early age. She made scarves to sell and used the funds to support a child in Nicaragua and an orphanage in Uganda, and also worked with her mother to feed people who are homeless. At 13, she decided EVERYDAY YOUNG HERO: JOHN MICHAEL STAGLIANO John Michael Stagliano (15, Summerville, South Carolina) is the founder of Home Again, an organization that provides homeless men, veterans, and families transitioning into permanent housing with household items to furnish their new homes.Often, transitioning homeless individuals need to use their savings and income for a housing deposit and do not have leftover funds to purchase basic EVERYDAY YOUNG HERO- MANHA YUSUF Manha Yusuf (10 | Newmarket, Ontario) is passionate about giving back to the community as a way of keeping her late aunt's spirit of giving alive.
