SAFETY TIPS: HOW TO CLEAN UP AFTER A HURRICANE » YALE (Photo credit: U.S. Air Force / by Tech. Sgt. Liliana Moreno) The 2020 hurricane season has begun, and it could be a doozy. Researchers from universities, private groups, and government agencies have predicted an above-average hurricane season in 2020.. If you must clean up in the wake of a storm this year, it is essential to follow best practices to protect your safety. NEW REPORT FINDS COSTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACTS OFTEN Climate economics researchers have often underestimated – sometimes badly underestimated – the costs of damages resulting from climate change. Those underestimates occur particularly in scenarios where Earth’s temperature warms beyond the Paris climate target of 1.5 to 2 degrees C (2.7 to 3.6 degrees F). That’s the conclusion of a new FACT CHECK: NO, THE GLACIERS ARE NOT GROWING IN GLACIER No need for imaginary secrecy. As for reports that Grinnell and Jackson glaciers are growing, data clearly show that’s not the case. Both glaciers have gotten progressively smaller, and their overall footprints shrank by 8.4% and 5.8% respectively, in the 10-year period between 2005 and 2015. Were it true that Jackson glacier had grown by30%

COMMON CLIMATE MISCONCEPTIONS: ATMOSPHERIC CARBON DIOXIDE Determining the residence time of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a rather complex problem. A common misconception arises from simply looking at the annual carbon flux and the atmospheric stock; after all, with 230 gigatons absorbed by the oceans and land every year, and a total atmospheric stock of 720 gigatons, one might expect the average molecule of CO 2 to remain in the THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND CLIMATE CHANGE » YALE CLIMATE The Catholic Coalition on Climate Change and its campaign for education and action, called the Catholic Climate Covenant, is the primary instrument of the Church’s activism on the climate issue.
