A VIRUS ATTACKS A CELL The key to cell entry is binding of protein ‘keys’ on the viral particle surface to receptor ‘locks’ on the lung cell. This animation sets the foundation of understanding for the other videos in the series by accurately depicting the relative size of a viral particle to a human cell and the point of infection onset. HOW DO VIRUSES REPRODUCE? Once they enter the body, the viral particles release their own genetic material, usually DNA, into the cytoplasm, which takes over the cells inherent machinery and instructs the human cell to make and assemble parts of the viral particle. The animation takes on an ominous feel once the virus enters and hijacks the human cell. MEDICAL ANIMATION & ILLUSTRATIONS Peering into the Brain: Neuralink’s brain-machine interface. They are important for normal physiological function, and impaired cilia are implicated in several diseases, such as primary ciliary dyskinesia and retinal degeneration.. Dr. Nicastro’s group used a novel technique to visualize the molecular machines inside flagella to better THE INNER LIFE OF THE CELL: PROTEIN PACKING ANIMATION Harvard University and XVIVO come together again to add to the growing series of scientific animations for BioVisions. Protein Packing strives to more accurately depict the molecular chaos in each and every cell, with proteins jittering around in what may seem likerandom motion.
FROM MELANOCYTE TO MELANOMA ANIMATION FROM MELANOCYTE TO MELANOMA. February 1, 2012. By Michael Astrachan. Working with MELA Sciences, we designed this medical animation to help doctors and their patients understand the underlying cause of melanoma. Focusing on the cellular biology of melanocytes and keratinocytes, this video explains the process by which melanomadevelops and the

THE INNER LIFE OF THE CELL The Inner Life of the Cell follows a white blood cell’s movement along the endothelium and its response to an external stimulus — a process known as leukocyte extravasation. This widely-acclaimed piece is the first in a series of animations XVIVO has created for Harvard’s BioVisions. The second installment, titled Powering theCell
UNDERSTANDING THE SCIENCE BEHIND VIRUSES CAN HELP YOU GET The beautiful thing about science is that once we understand how things work, we can then make intelligent decisions. There’s a lot of highly politicized and sometimes conflicting messaging floating around about the current COVID-19 pandemic raging across the globe. So we thought it would be timely to share with you some highly informative animations we have produced about the mechanismsMEET THE TEAM

Arvinas’ approach is to tag a protein implicated in a disease with their proprietary Proteolysis-Targeting Chimera, or PROTAC.PROTACs are small molecules that can be tailored to tag particular proteins. The PROTAC also binds to a naturally-occurring protein in the ubiquitin pathway, which ultimately results in the disease protein being degraded by the body’s naturalPROTAC PLATFORM
The biopharmaceutical company Arvinas Inc. has taken a unique approach to develop investigational therapies for hard-to-treat diseases, including cancers. XVIVO, in collaboration with Wyant Simboli and their client, Arvinas Inc., helped communicate the unconventional mechanism of action for a new class of drugs that engage the body’s own protein disposal system to target cancers and other POWERING THE CELL: MITOCHONDRIA ANIMATION POWERING THE CELL: MITOCHONDRIA. XVIVO teamed up with Harvard to develop a 3D animation for their Molecular and Cellular Biology students about the microscopic world of mitochondria. This video highlights the creation of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) – mobile molecules that store chemical energy derived from the breakdown ofcarbon-based food.
