UPDATE: GO TRAINS RESUME, BUT WITH SOME DELAYS AND CANCELLATIONS 'DEVELOPING SAFETY INCIDENTS' RESULTED IN THE SUSPENSION OF SERVICE ON LAKESHORE EAST, MILTON LINES News 05:10 PM by Joanna Lavoie__ Toronto.com
Facebook Twitter Reddit__
GO Tranist service was impacted late this afternoon on the Lakeshore East and Milton lines. - Metroland file photo It was a long commute home for some GO Transit riders this evening. “Developing safety incidents” late this afternoon near the Guildwood and Kipling GO stations resulted in the suspension of service on the Lakeshore East and Milton corridors. The situation near Guildwood station cleared around 4:50 p.m. and service has resumed with delays. The Milton line got back on track - albeit with a 30-minute detour in place - around 6:15 p.m. GO trains, which were also running west of Aldershot on the Lakeshore West Line due a protest, have now resumed. The disruption caused significant crowding at Union Stationduring rushhour.
According to a Tweet posted by Metrolinx, GO Transit travellers should expect delays an cancellations throughout the evening. Commuters are being urged to be patient during this inconvenientsituation.
“Safety is our top priority and central to everything we do. We're bringing in additional resources and are doing the absolute best we can given the situation," Metrolinx wrote. > While we are beginning to recover service, with trains running on > all GO lines, however we still expect delays and cancellations > throughout the evening. Stay tuned for more updates.>
